Cornholio 0 #1 June 4, 2004 In my search for cheap park hopper passes to Disney World (got any?) on E-bay, I ran accross this auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2248789508 Basically after buying the tickets you have to attend a 90 minute presentation when you arrive in Orlando in order to receive the tickets. Anyone been through any of these things ? Is it worth it ? For this particular set of passes, it's a savings of over $200.00 off the retail price of the passes. Would you do it ? Have you done it ? nbblood 0 #2 June 4, 2004 I've been to a couple of those. They're usually trying to sell some sort of timeshare or something and that's how they get their audience. They'll try to be persuasive to get "the sale". But if you just stick to your guns and say "not interested" you can move on. BTW, it doesn't help to be friendly. You don't have to be an ass, but the more blunt you are, the quicker they get the picture that you're not interested. Also, if you act interested during the presentation, you will be targeted. Anyway, go for it. Just be prepared. Blues, NathanBlues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
skymama 37 #3 June 4, 2004 Yes, I've been through one of those time share things. The high pressure tactics were so irritating I decided there wasn't any free offer worth going through it again! You have to keep sitting there while they send over the "closers" to pressure you into the sale, no matter how many times you say no, they keep trying. You have to stay if you want your goodies. Blech...just pay the $200 extra, your time is worth way more than that! She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
bertusgeert 1 #4 June 4, 2004 My parents once took us on a vacation like that, for me it was great! My dad is a succesful businessman and has seen his share of sales presentations, and he simply sat through it telling them NO. 2 to 3 hours of irritation to save $200? I'd do it! Has anyone seen the Southpark episode about the Ski resort tickets that they got cheap this way? HHAHAHAHA --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei! Cornholio 0 #5 June 4, 2004 You know I have seen that episode, and that is exactly what is going through my head when I think about what this 90 minute presentation will be about. I'm not a pushover for sales tactics, but I can imagine it going on for more than 90 minutes and then the endless telephone sales calls and future correspondence would not be worth saving $200.00 hmm... let me think about this some more. Fast 0 #6 June 4, 2004 Just give them a fake phone number. I would guess that they already have your address. $200 for 90 minutes = $133 an hour. $200 for 120 minutes = $100 an hour. Even at 2 hours is still way the hell more than i make when I goto work. Sounds like anything else. Just going to work to pay for a trip ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me.
