Blue Skies Grandma......

Recommended Posts

Grandma passed on last night. Strong woman, from a large family. Raised a good family of her own, married to grandpa since she was 19 untill he passed away Christmas Day 2002, she passed at 87 in her sleep.

Dad just got back from a trip visiting her in NY two nights ago. He'll be back on a plane Wed. Wish I could make it to Nor Cal to see him before he goes. He's hurting.

Energetic woman, she came to this country as a girl with her mother from Columbia. Worked as a seamstres for many years, while Grandpa drove a cab in NYC. Still have about 40 stuffed animals she made for us kids in the attic at Dad's place. Must of been a grand time. She was the first female pilot native of Columbia to be licensed in this country. She even flew acrobatics in a Piper Cub.

Blue Skies Grandma, your spirit lives on in your family.

Sounds like an incredible woman, JP. She will be missed. It's hard, sometimes, to let go. But she raised a good man who in turn raised another good man (you), so her legacy lives on. But...I just have this image of her flying around heaven dropping all the jumpers we've lost.

You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers tonight. Hugs to you.

Thanks. Letting go isn't that hard for me. It's a natural progression.... she was 87 after all, that's a long and in her case full life. I'm ok. I hope Dad is too.....

Im sorry for the loss to your family...but WOW what a legacy she left!

What a COOL Grandmother.... from sewing stuffed animals to flying acro in a Cub??? Truly truly a fascinating woman.
You were blessed to have known her....for many more reasons, Im sure. She sounds quite remarkable.

(((HUGS))) and prayers for you and your family, especially your father right now.

Im happy to know she went peacefully in her sleep. We should all be so lucky.

Eternal blue ones "Grandma"

Wow, Michele sure knows how to come up with the right thing to say. All I can do is echo her and give you a big hug.

Condolences, JP.

When they have had a good life, it's easier to say goodbye. My dad died at 92 a couple of years ago and really none of us "kids" were desperatley upset. On the other hand I attended a wake yesterday for a 27 year old, and I found that very distressing.

Blue ones!

Condolences, brother; sounds like an amazing woman. I miss my grandma, too; no matter who you were, she always had a way of making you feel like YOUR call was the one she had been waiting for. Special lady.

I said a prayer for you and your's...
