AndyMan 7 #1 June 3, 2004 I have an admission to make. I'm so embarassed. I don't know how to say this. I'll just blurt it out.... I CAN'T ROAST CORN. My masculinity has taken a hit, my Grilling prowess is threatened. Man + fire + corn != tasty goodness. So, a simple question to the grill kings out there... How the hell do you grill corn on the cob? Husk on? Husk off? Soaked in Water? Wrapped in foil? I've tried all 3, and each time the result was not corny tasty goodness. Consistently, corn is seriously undercooked.... How hot, how long.... How? _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
Ncrowe 0 #2 June 3, 2004 They used to cook it all the time on a grill out at Sobe while it was open. I believe they just left the husk on and threw it on the grill. Not sure how long but i'd guess around 20 mins over a good fire. "Don't Mess Around With the Guy in Shades- Oh No!!! "
misskriss 0 #3 June 3, 2004 I actually did it last week and it turned out pretty good. I cleaned all of the silky strands off the corn and left the husks on. I rubbed the corn down with olive oil and sprinkled sea salt on it and then pulled the husks back up. I then wrapped it in foil and cooked it for about 30 minutes turning about every ten. The coals were pretty hot but I kept the corn to the outside and not directly over it. It turned out pretty good. The kids ate it anyway. There are so many different ways to do it...just keep trying and eventually you'll get it the way you like it.
selbbub78 0 #4 June 3, 2004 I roast it husk on, soak it in water beforehand. I usually soak it for like 1/2 hour or longer, doesn't really matter, then put it on the grill, until it starts to look all charcolled on the outside, like a hamburger would look on a grill. I know other people that don't soak it in water, and it seems to turn out well for them too, but I'm not sure how they prepare it. blue skies,"Women fake orgasms - men fake whole relationships" – Sharon Stone "The world is my dropzone" (wise crewdog quote) "The light dims, until full darkness pierces into the world."-KDM
Dougiefresh 0 #5 June 3, 2004 Soak it in the husk as you're lighting the grill, setting the table, etc. Place on grill, husk on still. When the outer layer of husk is turning black and peeling away, turn it over. Repeat. When the innermost 3 or 4 layers of husk start to peel away on the silk end, it's done... it might even be a bit overdone. I think the main thing is that it's still early in the season for really good corn. Wait a month, then try again. GravityGirl 0 #6 June 3, 2004 The quick and easy way. Drink a beer. Trim off the silky strands. Drink a beer. Put them on the grill. Drink a beer. Turn them over. Drink a beer. Keep turning until all sides are black. Drink a beer and eat corn. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
SpeedRacer 1 #7 June 3, 2004 REALLY easy way. leae the husk on, nuke it in the microwave 3 minutes, turning it over once about midway thru let it sit in the husk another couple minutes. then peal and eat. Jimbo 0 #9 June 3, 2004 I can't remember how long they stay on the grill, but definitely husk on, wrapped in foil. Roasted corn is infinitely better than boiled - be patient, it will come. - Jim"Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed. JohnnyD 0 #10 June 3, 2004 I go straight from the fridge to the grill - no fancy prep. About 20 min with 3 1/4 turns should do it. The outside will look totally black and the inside should be lightly roasted. When you peel the husk off, the silk will come right off with it. Super easy. EricaH 0 #11 June 3, 2004 I had it bout the same way. But we also got all the silky strands off, rubbed butter all over the inner corn, pulled the husk back up & roasted it till the first few outter layers of husk were chared. mmm, roasted buttery corn!! There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. Only you can fix your fear. PMS #227 (just like the TV show)

skymama 37 #13 June 4, 2004 Duh...corn is on the cover of "Southern Living" this month and it's been in my magazine rack the whole time. Here's what they say.... Pile the charcoal on one side of the grill or light only one side of a gas burner. Remove heavy outer husks, pull back inner husks, remove silks, tie inner husks with string. Coat each cob lightly with cooking spray. Sprinkle with salt & pepper. Put husks on unlight side of grill. Grill, covered with grill lid, over medium-high heat, 10 min. or until golden brown, turning occasionally. They also recommend making a spread using 2 T. reduced fat mayo and 2 T. fat-free sour cream. Then once you put that on, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese, chili powder and spritz with a lime wedge. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

Amanda965 0 #18 June 4, 2004 Roasted corn is absolutely wonderful, but it is serisouly so time consuming opposed to boiling or microwaving. You are better off just waiting until the fairs/festivals in the summer and getting roasted corn there!Blue skies and SAFE landings! ~Amanda~

Absolutely true. I took some ribs out to the DZ last weekend, and had a series of meat-heads tell me they were the best ribs they'd ever had. I blushed. Now, if only I could figure out how to do that with corn... _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

I will agree with your statement, and after reading that I guess that my post does sound like I am lazy and may not like to cook! I guess it has always just tasted alot better when I have gotten it at the fair, rather than trying to make it on my own :) Sorry!Blue skies and SAFE landings! ~Amanda~
