Guest #1 June 3, 2004 via Debbi Correia, president of Seattle Skydivers Inc.... ---------- Subject: Thurston County Hearing 6/4/2004 Next very important hearing is Friday June 4th 9 AM at: Thurston County Courthouse 2000 Lakeridge Dr SW, Olympia, WA - 360-754-3800 Sorry for the late notice, but our optimism made us believe this hearing would not be necessary. We need all available bodies, Call friends and neighbors. We need a positive outcome at this hearing or we will be subject to stopping jumping at Kapowsin at least until June 18th or until we get a new permit, we have already applied for that permit. At any rate we would like to see all of you here jumping on Friday. With a good weather forecast and no limitations on activity for that day....be here for a great day. Thanks for your continued support. The Farringtons"The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat."

Zenister 0 #3 June 3, 2004 was out at Kapow for a little while this afternoon.. If possible i'l be at the hearing as well... if you havent been here, Kapowsin is home to one of the most regularly stunning veiws in the world.. i wonder if letters/emails from out of state/country jumpers stating their desire to jump there would be of any assistance? after all there is no better way to appreciate the beauty of Washington State than from freefall. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. rmsmith 1 #7 June 4, 2004 QuoteSent my letter in already... Are you talking about the letter to John Ladenburg, the Pierce County Executive, or is there someone else willing to accept a letter? This next hearing is in the State's capitol some distance from Mr. Ladenburg's office. Unfortunately, I can't get away from work tomorrow, so I'd be more than happy to fax a letter this evening if there's another point of contact such as a judge. Thanks! Zenister 0 #15 June 4, 2004 if you want to jump at Kapow in the immediate future, you should head over today as it will be the last day until the permit is approved. The judge reluctantly denied the Farringtion's request for stay of the county's cease and desist order The judge apologized (and admitted to having jumped before) for depriving us of the enjoyment of our sport, but given the situation as presented was forced to uphold the county's order. grrrrr but the sky is blue and Rainer is magnificent today..... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. You know, I must admit that that is the type of judge that you always want to go in front of. One who reluctantly does what he has to. SOrry to all you folks. Any plans for how to proceed? Zenister 0 #17 June 4, 2004 have to ask someone more official than i, and i'm not so sure its best to discuss that over an open forum, but i'm in for whatever i can do to help the Farrington's have been amazingly cool and open in accepting me to their skydiving family dz and I'd hate to see such a wonderful dropzone and the family that runs it, go away because of one asshat and his personal vendetta....____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. bendywendy 0 #18 June 4, 2004 What is this all about? I'm at the opposite corner of the country but have met Andy & Kerri and other Kapowsin jumpers and I'm upset that something like this could happen. The thread doesn't say what it's all about though. kansasskydiver 0 #20 June 4, 2004 I guess I haven't been kept in the loop, but what happened that caused the dz to not be able to renew their permit. If someone could post, link or pm me I'd appreciate it. Thanks Chris<--- See look, pink dolphins DO exist!
