ChrisL 2 #2 June 5, 2004 bleah. History Schmistory. Its a horse race. Bunch of horses run around the track one of them wins. I cant stress enough, as a resident of southeast pennsylvania, how freakin sick I am of hearing about Smarty Freakin Jones. Here, I'll see if I can do it with faces... tunaplanet 0 #5 June 5, 2004 I really hope he wins. No reason why he should not. There's only a few factors that scare me. 1. What we in the horse racing world call the "Bounce Factor." In short, horses aren't like machines. They are "human" just like us. That means they make mistakes. They don't perform the exact same way every time like a machine would for instance. The triple crown is a tough, grueling race that takes a major toll on the horse's body. Let's hope he doesn't have an off day. 2. Purge and Rock Hard Ten are 2 horses to watch out for and the only likely ones to beat SJ. Purge is a speedster with hooves of flames and Rock Hard Ten is a big, powerful monster who placed second in the Preakness. Watch for both of these. 3. The Belmont is long. 1 and a half miles. SJ is bred for the milers, like many horses. Horses sometimes act weird when having to push further than they're used to. 4. And last, the track itself is nasty. There's a reason they call Belmont the "Big Sandy." It is one of the most unusual and unique tracks in racing. Different from any other track out there. It's very deep and has a funny shape. Worse, SJ has never ran this track. That scares me a bit. All in all I feel he will do this. What a great moment in sport's history it will be.
