Marz 0 #1 June 4, 2004 ... that says that Canadians MUST love the Tragically Hip? I know the CRTC and all forces Canadian content on the radio, but honestly, to me, every song other than "new Orleans is sinking" sound like nails on a chalkboard!!!! They're like an annoying weed that just won't die and they're still celebrated as a great band and continue to get heavy airplay although there's a hundred Canadian bands waiting to be discovered out there. Should I turn in my Canadian passport and move to another country? Marz _________________________________________ Did I just kill another thread? lawrocket 3 #2 June 4, 2004 No. But Canadians have to love the Guess Who... "I was a diesel fixer, fixed a diesel, diesel fixed me, what a weasel, Oh no!" My wife is hotter than your wife.

It's gotta be better then it was a few years ago when I was going to Carleton. Back then, pot was still illegal! To answer your question, yes. Canadians DO have to like The Tragically Hip. Specifically, their album Road Apples. Speaking of Road Apples, there's a coverband in Kingston by the same name. They often play at A.J.'s Hanger. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead. Hey, I'll have you know that Burton Cummings looks thin when he's next to Randy Bachman and Garry Petersen. Burton's just lost the voice. I saw them in concert a couple of years ago. Burton was a shell of himself singing "Laughing." Of course, the Barenaked Ladies... My wife is hotter than your wife.

But leave the Barenaked Ladies out of this!!!!! I happen to have partied with them and they're some of the funniest, most down to earth people you'll ever meet! And I stand corrected regarding Rush's existence....
mailin 0 #9 June 4, 2004 QuoteI happen to have partied with them and they're some of the funniest, most down to earth people you'll ever meet! I won back stage passes to see them in '98. They were HUGE in Boston then. I didn't get to see much of them, but they tour staff rocked! My friend and I, along with the other 'back-staggers' had a blast and left with a ton of cool free stuff! We went up into a skyhill/waterpark in Gatineau and just got wrecked. GBS played all day long, then drank with us all night... _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead. Snowbird 0 #11 June 4, 2004 I hearby declare, witnessed by all dz.comers, that I DO NOT LIKE the Tragically Hip. Not one single song. I just don't get it. My girlfriend tried dragging me to a concert, and I refused. When I hear them on the radio, I turn it off! I also don't like hockey, and don't drink beer. I seem to be a bad Canuck. lawrocket 3 #14 June 4, 2004 Okay, I'm not Canadian. I've never even been there. The closest I've been is flying over it on the way to England. But: 1) I love hockey 2) I love beer (though I don't find Canadian beer to be very good) 3) I hate Newfies. 4) the Guess Who is one of my Top 10 fave bands. 5) I work best when not in direct sunlight Therefore, I think I should be honorary Canuck. Still, 1) I'm a right wing libertarian 2) Parliamentary procedure can kiss my ass 3) I have nothing against those from Prince Edward Island or Yellowknife. Would this affect my honorary Canuck status? My wife is hotter than your wife.
kingbunky 3 #15 June 4, 2004 >>1) I love hockey i watch the odd game during playoffs. i stand by my theory that unless a team can play one home game a year on natural ice, they have no business having a hockey team. phoenix in the nhl? wtf? >>2) I love beer (though I don't find Canadian beer to be very good) beer is good. we have all kinds, i doubt you've tried them all. keep at it, you'll find one you like eventually. >>3) I hate Newfies. have you met them all? if not, head for st. john's, you'll change your mind. they're great folks. well, not all of them. they probably have their share of assholes too. >>4) the Guess Who is one of my Top 10 fave bands. well, top 20 for me. >>5) I work best when not in direct sunlight don't we all? >>Therefore, I think I should be honorary Canuck. TitaniumLegs 8 #17 June 5, 2004 Quote 3) I hate Newfies. Would this affect my honorary Canuck status? Hating Newfies is not a Canadian trait. Making fun of them is. I mean, they have their own "half time zone". 10:00 in Nova Scotia = 10:30 in NFLD!!!! Hating Quebec, if you're not from there, is optional. If you are from Quebec, resenting the rest of the country is almost required. Back in 1995 when Quebec had the referendum, the Newfies thought it would be great for Quebec to leave Canada, since it would bring Toronto and NFLD closer together............
