I broke my ankle today.

Sorry to hear you broke your ankle. Give it time to heal before getting back in the swing of things. There are a few perks to injuries though. You can get a temp handicap sticker for your car, you get to drive those fancy carts around the super market, and when you go out guys are right there to buy you a few drinks.

Hey Vanillia,

Vibes out to you. I'm kindof in the same boat you are. I was gonna go to Bridge the gap, but ended up spending my friday night at the hospital due to some severe food poisoning. I dont feel that well either so no jumping this weekend.

My landings also SUCK. Ever since I busted my arm, I'm having some issues. I'll take the Canopy Course at Elsi this month though. Vibes out to you and hope you feel better.

Oh I'm so sorry sweety. *hugs* I know how you feel having broke my wrist day's before a big boogie and blowing out my knee at the beginning of another boogie.

Just listen to your Dr. take your calcium, and don't rush the recovery.
Fly it like you stole it!

Rosa:

Why'd you go and do that? Great ankles are a rarity in this world, and it would be a shame to mess yours up.

anyway, be glad it was only a break. I've known folks (yours truly) who have messed up ligaments in the ankle. Even less cool.

Good vibes to you, kid. Do exactly what the doctor says, and ask for skybytch's permission prior to jumping. She'll tell when it's not safe.

Friends, thank you so very much for all the loving PMs and awesome posts. You have no idea what this means to me. I am really down and feel so alone right now...plus I haven't taken anything for pain since the hospital. I just found the advil on the floor. It fell out of my bag last night when I hobbled in.

Also, I haven't anything to eat or drink because I was bored all day and was falling in and out of sleep, so I am ordering pizza and drinks right now. Thanks for offering help, everyone. I love you, guys.

Things always happen for a reason, right? Something amazing must be on the horizon for me to balance this out, right? Things always seem to work out for the best...eventually, when I stay positive. I just have to give it some time. It's really hard to stay positive, right now.

That's the spirit. You'll be ok.

I know there's an awful lot of people on here that have leaned on your shoulder, don't be afraid to lean back. Keep us posted on how it's going.

Oh, by the way, I too have a high tolerance for pain. I finished a football game with a broken bone in my hand. Then later cut a cast off because I was too competitive. Then, another incident, in the army I broke my elbow and cut the cast off a week and a half later to take an important PT test. Neither of these turned out well in the long run. So, before you start thinking about it......DON'T!! 2-3 more weeks at the end is not that big of a deal.

Just my words of experience for ya!;)

Anyway, keep smiling, keep us posted. From what I know about you, you'll find something incredibly constructive to spend your time on.

Big Hugs to you and get well soon!

And always remember, it can always be much worse. We have seen and heard of our friends going through much worse trauma. Try and keep it is perspectice Rosa and the time will pass.

Yes, you're right. I'm trying very hard to keep things in perspective...so many people have had such serious injuries that I shouldn't even complain, right? I'm so sorry, everyone, but this has been very hard for me...harder, lonelier, and more miserable than I thought that it would be. I can't even really sleep due to pain and discomfort. I promise to try to complain less and to do something constructive while I am not jumping. Thank you for the posts, everyone. I really, really, really am needing them, and I thank you all so much for the love and support. Love you all...

WRONG!!! You have every right to complain. Yeah, it could've been worse, but so what? You're in pain, you're broken, you have every right to be selfish. Right now it's all about you chica. If you need somebody with "broken ankle depression" to talk to, just PM or call me.
*more hugs*

I would jump w/ the cast on...
And if I have to, I`ll land on my ass, just to make sure I don`t injure it again.
I mean, you sound so bumed, and you have so many plans...Don`t break them!...Go.
Have everybody sign your cast. I`m sure you`ll have fun, fun, fun...
You`ll see.

Since the age of 6 I`ve had many injuries (I was a very hyperactive kid, and also practiced gymnastics for a couple of years). In total I`ve had 6 casts over all (arms, wrist and ankles). So by this I mean I never let that ruin my plans.
So go for it. Plus is your b-day also, right!...Have fun. And it`s a perfect excuse to have guys carry you;)
You`ll have plenty of time for recovery laterB|

Bad idea. What if there is a malfunction? What if the winds come up? What if there is a bad spot?

Rosa, listen to the doctors and make sure you are healed before jumping. If you jump before you have given yourself time to heal, you may have problems down the road.

OMG!!! :o (Christie, sweetie, I love ya, but I do not agree with your advice to me.)

Everyone please calm down...Sunny, Mar, I would NEVER jump with a cast on. I wouldn't even think about it. Kris told me to consider doing a tandem for my birthday, but I will only do it if my doctor approves. I am considering it as I have NEVER done one. Seriously, though, I would NEVER want to complicate my injuries. I promise to be a very good patient. Please don't fly out here in July with intentions to kick my ass, Sunny One. :P

Oh Rosa, I am really bummed. I guess going out dancing tonight is out of the question. Believe it or not; ankle injuries are somewhat common until until your body gets used to landing. I landed in a ditch at Gold Coast several years back and ended up with purple foot. The crutches were the worst part. Take care, drink lots of milk, heal fast and thank the lord that you are not a horse.

hugs&kisses,Bob

lol i landed in a ditch at gold coast and got all wet at the boogie there..... but thats another story

rosa a tandem might be cool for your birth day, just make sure you have good landing conditions since you can not exactly run with a cast on....

how long di he doc say for healing?
