napaguy99 0 #1 June 9, 2004 Well tomorrow I'm going on my first Cross Country solo. Sorry folks, I'm afraid the case of beer does not apply to aviation, only skydiving. Therefore, I'm safe calling it my FIRST. If tomorrow you are going to be in the air in the vicinity of the airspace between Destin and Panama City, Florida between the hours of 9-11AM I would suggest a course diversion!! Finally, a question: do you think I should take my rig with me? I think it might scare my instructor too much. "Let the misinterpretation and attacks begin." pilotdave 0 #2 June 9, 2004 Your instructor will only be scared if he owns the plane. Other than that, he won't be there so what's he care? Have a great time. I loved my solo cross countries. Course I did mine to like 5 different states... guess down there that gets kinda far, huh? Hardest part of the whole thing is figuring out where to park to go get your logbook signed... at least at the small airports. Easiest time I had was a class C airport. Lineman came out with the wands and guided me into a space, then they literally put down a red carpet for me. Fun trip! Dave
Beerlight 0 #3 June 9, 2004 Congrats... Once you shut down, get out of the plane with your sectional, looking at it real serious like, and ask the lineman, "Is this...... Texas??" I do that crap all the time, bust me up....... Have fun, and i KNOW your not gonna use "flight following" or a GPS...huh!!! Buck P.S. take your camera......Wish i would've....... Hours of 9-11? Now I'm not superstitious, (Ok...yep, yes I am) You'd be dialing 9-1-1 if I was at the controls of anything but a desending parachute... But for you, I'm sure the # has no likeness/significance with the emergency phone number... QuoteFinally, a question: do you think I should take my rig with me?
