Amazon 7 #1 June 13, 2004 Yesterday was kinda a fun day I got to jump a canopy made in 1986 and last jumped in 1989.. Jetstream 300 Main 7 cells of F-111. The canopy spanked me on opening.. it opened so hard that it proceeded to wrap the outer cells around to the center folding to the front on the center cell......eeeesh.. once it unfolded itself back it had to be the slowest hardest to turn "square" I have ever jumped.. I mean I remember Papillion rounds that turned and spiralled faster. I did all the typical things to check out flight on it at 6k... and riser turned it.. wow.. pull ups are fun. Stalled it out to collasing again on its center... it did not recover as quickly as a modern canopy but not bad. I set up for a landing knowing the flare was not real good after trying a few around the "industrial haze" for perspectiveLanding it was not to bad.. but for my big butt I will relegate this one to the ranks of water jump canopies. The rest of the day was spent on putting all the water jump rigs together for Lost Prairie. I packed up the Papillion that I got from Viking.. its in pristine condition.. even Charlie Markin our old school rigger in the Seattle Skydivers since the 1960's was amazed that a 1974 vintage round was in such good condition. The rest of the afternoon was taken up with getting reserves onto one rig or another ready for packing later today. The only really fun part of the day was I gave my digital camera to Bill to put in my locker.. but he put it in someone elses.... they put it up on the manifest counter.. and some of the guys decided to have some fun and take some shots down thier pants... hmmm now I am in a quandry.. ... go in search of the culprit .. by comparison "shopping" or just post the pictures. Really? Last weekend I flew a Nimbus 1986 - 210 sq ft of "Volvo". The opening was brisk and the toggle pressure was insane. Definately proves that canopy design has come a long way. Now where'd those pictures go??? Dave Life is very short and there's no time for fussing and fighting my friend (Lennon/McCartney)

Was there really a canopy named this? I want one! Dixie HISPA #56 Facil Rodriguez "Scientific research has shown that 60% of the time, it works every time." dixieskydiver 0 #5 June 13, 2004 Sorry for the hijack Amazon! I'm planning on watching the second one again tonight. $1 pirated DVD's from China kick ass! Also you can have your very own Nimbus 1989 http://www.dropzone.ru/msg/743.shtml . It's only like $300 they want for it, not sure if it is USD, the extension is .ru and I'm not sure what country that is. Viking 0 #6 June 13, 2004 no thanx i'll take a firebolt!! even though they put that stupid cheesing ass ending in. Would have been much cool if had gone wizzing over the lake dragging his feet in the water like buckbeak did when he was riding him. Then have him yank it straight up and water go flying everywhere. Just my opinion though.I swear you must have footprints on the back of your helmet - chicagoskydiver My God has a bigger dick than your god -George Carlin
