bertusgeert 1 #1 June 15, 2004 Allright there has to be someone that can help me here. Excel Help sucks... Simple, quick question... I am entering the guest list for my sisters wedding into excel so we can track things better. Problem is I havent worked with it in a long while. Q1. I scroll to a cell with the arrow keys, and then I want to edit the information - like the F2 Key does in MS Word in a table. If I hit F2, it opens another book. What key will let me edit the data without losing all the information, or using the mouse? Q2. Also, I have a column of the parties that are invited, and I want to ass them together. So I select the column and use the SIGMA key on the toolbar. great. Problem is, I want to continue entering numbers, and i want it to shift down as I enter the data. I would apreciate some help, thanx all! --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!

Are you sure?I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun
mailin 0 #3 June 15, 2004 1. Select the box - F2 will enter the cursor in the box... or you can just double click on the box. 2. You add boxes by right clicking on the row number at the far left of the screen and selecting ADD ROW, everything will move down... or you can place the final ADD cell very far down in the column and just add things in the blank spaces before it - that way it will automatically add up as you go along. Any way I can change that? Adding now works, thankyou! --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!
mailin 0 #5 June 15, 2004 F2 should work - check to see that the ALT or CTRL key on either side of your keyboard are stuck. What version of excel are you using? JenArianna Frances
Nightingale 0 #6 June 15, 2004 at the top of the screen you will see a display of what's in the selected box. click on that area to edit what's in the box. see attached.
bertusgeert 1 #7 June 15, 2004 Excel 2002 The keys aren't stuck, good thought though. Yeah, I can do that, but then I would have to move my hand to the mouse, and then click, move my hand back to the keyboard. I like just keeping my hands on the keyboard. (the energy consumed in the thread is already more than it would take for my to use my mouse!) --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei! mailin 0 #8 June 15, 2004 2002? I thought the office packages went 97, 2000, XP and 2003... doesn't matter though. The F2 key should work - thats strange it doesn't. I have an ergo keyboard, which is usually finicky, and even it does that. I feel for ya - I hate doing the mouse/keyboard tango too.
