Should the Sunnyone buy my beer for this or not?

Recommended Posts

So...I've had a couple work issues going on since 2:00 A.M. and only managed to get 1 or 3 resolved. The Sunnyone has been bugging me for a bit to get to the DZ since I never jump around here anyway. So, WTF comes to mind and I load up the truck and head out. Chat with a few on the phone on the drive and get to the DZ. Grab the last slot, gear up and head to the plane (C182, 4 slots). Takeoff and climb are uneventful. Got an aerial view of the town where my dad used to own a business...kinda cool. Well, about 9k, the pilot noses over and points it back to the DZ. Everyone is on their knees at this point. Sunny lets out a yipe (she's in the tail position). First thought in my head is 'Damn I'm gonna owe beer for this one'. Pilot give the command to exit, then says wait. He straightens out and says 'now go'. Out we go from 8200'. Two of us open high, two take it down and make a skydive out of it. All land a couple miles away from the DZ, the 182 lands without power.
The damage? Cracked block plus unknown injuries underneath.
The question is, since Sunny bugged me to her wits end to get me out to the DZ to jump, should she be responsible for buying my beer?:)

Sunny lets out a yipe

Could you tell i was a bit scared? :P

You know you're glad you came out to jump with me today. So we didn't exactly get to jump together, at least you got one hell of an adrenaline rush. And leave it to me to flag down a hottie in a pick up truck to bring me back to the DZ. :)
And NO, i'm not buying your beer (unless it comes off the tab i owe you).

Unless "engine-out" situations are a common occurance at said DZ, and I hope they're not, then EVERYONE on the plane owes beer!

AND, if a rigger gets a bottle when his repack gets you to the ground safely, then I figure the skydivers should all chip in to buy the pilot a bottle for handling the situation well and not bending their jump plane! (as long as he didn't cause the engine out)

Agreed. The pilot is awesome!! He managed to land the plane safely and did an excellent job of staying calm and in control while we were exiting. He's been flying for a long long time and i'd get in a plane with him flying tomorrow if i could. I credit him with the safe outcome of the situation. :)

Sunny owes beer! Its obvious that she caused the engine failure with poor tail position procedure

Yeah, i have such a big fat ass it must've been too much for the plane to handle. :P Hehe.
