hookitt 1 #26 June 15, 2004 Ah.. much better... same quake, better page. I was 10 miles from the epicenter during the 7.1 Loma Prieta earthuake in 1989. There was no missing that one. That shook like crazy! My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
FunBobby 0 #27 June 15, 2004 Yep . . . Here on the top floor of our hangar at NAS North Island on Coronado, the walls were rocking and shaking. I was already walking out the door and was passed by some very hurried looking folks. My buddy's wife was in the commissary, and she said food was falling off of the shelves. I hope there weren't too many jars of spaghetti sauce that fell and broke. Wierd. FunBobby

Michele 1 #31 June 15, 2004 QuoteOkay, the one I probably felt happened a minute earlier off the coast of Rosarito, Mexico. . .it was a 5.1. . .Quite a jolt for those of us in high rise buildings. . .lol! That makes FAR more sense than the 4.7 up here. OTOH, I just spoke with my brother, and he didn't feel the 4.7 at all...and he was near EAFB. He did say there was a huge explosion/test thing happening at EAFB, so maybe that was picked up on the seismographs. Still, that's awfully large for a test... Sigh. Yeah, the USGS took the Edwards AFB one off the list. I think it has been determined that it wasn't an earthquake. Also they updated the Rosarito one to 36 miles off the coast of Coronado. . .and 5.2 on the scale. . .________________________________________ Take risks not to escape life… but to prevent life from escaping. ~ A bumper sticker at the DZ FGF #6 Darcy

skyyhi 0 #45 June 16, 2004 We don't really, but I haven't felt a really good shaker since Northridge. As a native I went through all the big ones. Loma Prieta, Whittier Narrows, Lancaster, Northridge, etc. When I moved to Seattle for 3 years, the first couple months there we had an earthquake and it was on the news for a week. . .all us transplanted Californians kept laughing at the Seattleites engrossed in their earthquake news. . .I couldn't even get news about this one from the TV. Pretty funny shit if you ask me.________________________________________ Take risks not to escape life… but to prevent life from escaping. ~ A bumper sticker at the DZ FGF #6 Darcy
