pilotdave 0 #1 June 17, 2004 I've had it with my alarm clock. Time for a new one. But I want one that DOESN'T piss me off all the time. Anyone know of a good alarm clock? I'm on my 2nd GE alarm clock now. I used my first one through most of college and finally threw it in the garbage. It had some of the dumbest design mistakes I think an alarm clock designer could make. For example, when fumbling for the snooze button, it was easy to hit the time set buttons and move it ahead a few hours. When I decided to replace it, I found another GE alarm clock that seemed to have solved the thingsI hated about the old one. But now this one is pissing me off. To reset an alarm, so it stops going off today and does tomorrow, i need to hold down the right button for like 3 seconds. Hit the wrong button (it's surrounded by buttons that all feel the same) and you might be turning on the other alarm or the nap mode which makes the alarm go off in 20 minutes. That's what I did this morning and had to get out of the shower to shut the damn alarm off. Also the damn screen is backlit with a 50000 candlepower spotlight. I swear you could see this clock from space. I need to turn it around so it isn't facing me when I'm trying to sleep. Oh also both GE alarm clocks have just decided not to go off every once in a while for no apparent reason. I'll never buy another GE. Been searching on the internet, but can't find any really good info. I'm looking for something with 2 alarms, a screen that won't blind me, easy to turn on and off, easy to use when i'm only half awake, and generally won't make me madder than I will naturally be in the morning. Any recommendations? Dave

Make it a song you HATE, and you are good as gold.
pilotdave 0 #3 June 17, 2004 I NEED a snooze button. If I had to get out of bed to turn the thing off, it'd be going out the window very quickly. This morning I hit my snooze button every 10 mins for over an hour and a half. Damn alarm has that feature where it starts off quiet and gradually gets louder and louder... I always have it shut off before it really wakes me up at all. I really hate alarm clocks. I wish I could design my own. Dave
aero04 0 #4 June 17, 2004 Searching on the internet for an alarm clock??? Just go to Walmart and get a cheapo. I had a cheapo I bought before college and I still use it.
pilotdave 0 #5 June 17, 2004 A cheapo is my other option and might be a better idea. But those can be so damn annoying. When ya want to wake up an hour early one day and you need to hit the set button like 23 times. And you stop on PM instead of AM cause its not well indicated. I want a freaking computerized alarm clock. I want an alarm clock that knows my schedule and knows how bad traffic is to wake me at an appropriate time. And it should automatically go off saturday mornings exactly 2 hours before load 1 takes off. Dave

MikeJD 0 #7 June 17, 2004 If you want to try something different you could get a Lumie bodyclock (www.lumie.com). It emulates daylight and wakes you up by gradually increasing its brightness. Really sweet on those dark winter mornings. Also doubles as a bedside lamp, obviously, and gradually dims once you activate the alarm. It also has a backup sound alarm that will eventually go off to wake you just in case the light doesn't. I've had one for the last few months and I love it. colintri 0 #8 June 17, 2004 How about this? It's what I use. Sonic Boom Clock Scroll down to the bottom of the page. It's a good clock but I know you won't like it because it'll vibrate your ass off the bed and the sound of it will frighten the living daylights out of you. On the positive side, the snooze button is easy to locate. That's only thing I can think of for you.

The F-16 pilots there keep SICK hours, and the last thing I need is a clock to make me think I'm back there! ...these dudes get to play with some of the coolest toys the government has to offer, WE foot the bill for it, and they have to do it at the butt crack of dawn? C'mon guys, have a friggin coffee and donut or something... Elvisio "not livin' in the flight pattern anymore" rodriguez

kansasskydiver 0 #11 June 17, 2004 Don't get any clock that runs off the atomic clock in CO, mine is always screwed up, off 4 hours, off 2 hours, changes time zones, goes back to 1960's, it's just all messed up. I trust my cell phone to wake me up as the alarm and time on that is always correct<--- See look, pink dolphins DO exist!
