riggerrob 643 #1 March 30, 2010 Since our DZ is in the messy midst of renovations, the DZO has promised me a new long table for packing round reserves. I really only need it one day per month to pack PEPs, but it is springtime and there is a backlog of PEPs in the loft. Over the years, I have packed on a lot of different tables and have narrowed my preference to something 36 inches high and 36 inches wide and bolted to the wall. 36 inches high allows me to put a knee on the container to help closing. I am far too old and far too grumpy to pack rounds on the floor and far too old an far too grumpy to climb on and off the table repeatedly. The back wall of the hangar is concrete, 40 feet long. The initial plan is to build a plywood table 36 inches high and 36 inches wide, with shelves underneath. The plywood will be sealed with several coats of varethane. Any suggestions? airtwardo 7 #2 March 30, 2010 The table a friend with a loft has is a bit higher but I understand your logic, however his is covered with a roll of OD canvas tacked down under the table furniture style, gives some traction when needed. ~ If you choke a Smurf, what color does it turn? ~

That would sure beat the 6 folding tables I use in a borrowed room... For myself, I like a higher than standard height so as to stand up a bit straighter while inspecting. rushmc 23 #4 March 30, 2010 5 8' banquet tables gives you 40' table 6 6' tables give you 36' of table Many companies change them out over periods of time They fold up and can be stored when not in use They are heavy and will not move and you wife/girl friend/friend or significant other can use them for parties and garage sales when you dont need them "America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." stratostar 5 #5 March 31, 2010 You need one of those shelfs with a locking door on it, for a keg cooler and install one tap trap door with remote, so when your done jumping or packing you can hit the remote and up will pop the tap. Now if your really cool, you could also install a an auto cold glass handler, that way not only the tap pops up, but a nice ice cold glass for you to fill up too. Should help with you old and grumpyness thing...... maybe!P.S. get you some good beer and not that Labatt's, moosehead, Molson, Kokanee shit! riggerrob 643 #6 March 31, 2010 Back when I was a drunk, I preferred Coors Light - a the end of a hard day or skydving - because it reminded me of making love in a canoe ... er ... I could down two or three Coors Lite and still drive home.

The folding legs also give lots of things you can use to clamp on your two tension devices.=========Shaun ==========

ZigZagMarquis 9 #9 April 1, 2010 Dunno Rob... the last table I packed a round on was Celaya's and it was a bit "low" for my taste... ended up with a back-ache after a day working on it, but Celaya is short, so he didn't see it that way. Anyway, 36in off the floor may be okay for you. Seems a bit "higher" than say a normal table height though? As for the table bolted the back wall, if that's okay with you, then its okay with you. I've always thought it more advantageous to be able to have a table I can work from both sides of, but not so much so that I thought it necessary. monkycndo 0 #10 April 1, 2010 Standard height of a folding banquet table is 30". If you want it higher, get some 1" pvc pipe and make leg extensions to what ever height you want. Used to work in the equipment rental business and this trick worked great. We jacked tables up as high as 42".50 donations so far. Give it a try. Agreed! But it was not so much the tired back muscles that annoyed me. Rather it was the "BONK! %$##@!" that broke my concentration and the headaches that wore me out!
