baa75 0 #1 June 21, 2004 in the USA, where would you go and why? I'm trying to get ideas for a vacation spot and I just don't know where to go! (I haven't taken one since my 3 yr old twins were born!) My boyfriend works at the DZ so even though I started out thinking of DZs to visit maybe we should take a break from the DZ or at least find a place near one but with other things to do? I want to relax but have things to do/see if we want to. Oh, we're looking to go around Sept/Oct. Thanks!! BettyAnn Getting married? Check out my website! marcandalysse 0 #2 June 21, 2004 that's a good time of year to visit the Four Corners area...northern New Mexico (taos and santa fe), Southwest colorado (durango and mesa verde, telluride), southeastern Utah (zion park and more), northern Arizona (grand canyon, navaho and hopi country)....lots of good colorful foliage in the mtns, there's a dz at MOAB UTAH... Stacy 0 #3 June 21, 2004 In October ish, I'd say fly to Orlando. Rent a car. Drive down the east coast and hit daytona beach (deland), The Space Center, Sebastian, Miami, the everglades, and then end up in Key Largo or Key West. __
bertusgeert 1 #4 June 21, 2004 I lived in Canyon City CO for a while... Depending on what you want to do and how long you want to stay, it's a pretty cool place if you know where to go. Skydive the Rockies is close by, as well as a great river to raft and have ton's of fun on - there are some great cliffs with pools to jump. (rafting companies won't let you, but you can always go back without them). Edit to add: Oh... right.... oct/sept...ish.. i missed that. forget the river then! VERY low and LOTSA rocks. still might be swimmable on some days though... There is some great hiking all around - nice creeks, canyons and hot springs - including "bootleggers" where they made moonshine back in the day, still there, all busted up Royal Gorge Bridge is close, (lotsa touristy stuff), the bridge is cool nonetheless, there is also one of the A frame swing things you see at Sixflags, on the edge of a thousand ft cliff, a cable car over the gorge, and a steep incline railway that will take you down to the river and back up. And CO springs is 45 min away - Garden of the God's, Pikes peak (which I thought was crap), Some bigass caves, etc. etc. so there is my essay on where YOU need to go... --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei! d_squared431 0 #6 June 21, 2004 Lake Tahoe....You can't go wrong. I'm not talking about South Lake Tahoe, I talking about North lake Tahoe. I don't even know where to start by telling you about all the different things you can do here. The only problem is the closest DZ is 45 minutes away. I can't remember the last time I left here to take an actual vacation. Everything you want to do is right here. There is Gambling, free beer in the casinos and if you have to buy it it's only a $1.50, mt biking, hiking,mt boarding, all water sports,Golf,Ultimate Frisbee, and historical places and land marks to see. Thats only a few things so go on line and pull up Lake Tahoe and you will see why its so great.TPM Sister#130ONTIG#1 I love vodka.I love vodka cause it rhymes with Tuaca~LisaH You having a clean thought is like billyvance having a clean post.iluvtofly

TheAnvil 0 #9 June 21, 2004 I'll agree with Viking here. Yosemite is truly awesome. The Grand Canyon/Painted Desert is cool as well. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!
PhillyKev 0 #10 June 21, 2004 If you like fall foliage, New England is great that time of year. Or, skyline drive in W. Virginia.
baa75 0 #11 June 21, 2004 Thanks for the great ideas! Florida was actually my first thought. (Well ok, besides the big all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean but that’s a little much for right now) Since we can't go anywhere all summer at least FL is nice and warm and there are plenty of DZs to choose from and lots to do. I had to actually look up Lake Tahoe because I didn't even know for sure where it was! (What’s the difference between South & North?) There is plenty to do and really nice cozy rooms/cabins but how cold is it that time of year? I lived in TX for a while but otherwise I've been pretty much on the East Coast my whole life, I really don’t know much on the other half of the US. I’m loving the Spa ideas and he’ll deny it but I bet he’d like them too! I was even thinking of maybe a Cruise but I keep hearing bad reviews of them. So…we're going Sept/Oct for a long weekend 4/5 days. We're NOT taking the kids. (I know, I’m horrible but its been 3 years and I need some adult only time!) I need somewhere we can have a little alone time but with other things to do (cause I don't know if I can handle 5 days of just the two of us! ) I feel like a kid in a toy store…so many places to choose from I don’t know which to pick!
