I am unaware of JP's reasons but I know I am enjoying shooting video and would like to be even more participatory in the dropzone from a staffing perspective.. I truly enjoy the interaction with the first-timers and teaching them a little about the sport.. After talking with Iwan about his reasons, I thought we should do a poll about which reasons are the best.. I tried to mix them up so you can't tell whose are whose.. That's just kidding of course. I want to be a TM to help people jump out of an airplane and have the ride of their lives, to be more involved at the DZ etc.. And the be an allround skydiver. I'm thinking about it, I still have a lot of concerns about the fact that you are ultimately responsible for someone else's life. tandembrent 0 #13 June 10, 2004 the most significant reason i chose to become a TM was so i could give the tandem students a better and more comfortable experience than i had as a student. i'm not saying my tandem ride was bad, just that i knew it could have been better! one other thing! no one ever told me how fullfilling being a TM could be. to be that person that gets to share intimately the students first experience. be sure and tell me about the first time you get a female student that has an orgasm in your lap! you'll think your getting pee'd on with-out the wet spot! and you will, i repete, you will get puked on no matter how gentle you may be with your canopy turns. seriously though, never forget that each student you take, has never done this before. you have a duty to make each and every ride special for them. and don't forget to make fun jumps for yourself, or else it WILL become merely a job! ***~~~~Green grass and high clouds forever~~~~ no matter where you go, there you are! Deuce 1 #16 June 10, 2004 I'm doing it cause Connie said. I did my first tandem yesterday, on the front. And today I took the rig out for a solo ride. Tomorrow I'll start hauling Guinea pigs. It's something I'm sure will be fun, but right now I'm preoccupied with the responsibility of the passenger. I suspect I'll always like camera better, cause I like the dance of freefall maneuver, and that is completely lost with the drogue. I am a full time skydiver, so I want to be able to provide the services that are needed. Camera, AFF or tandem. Hopefully enough down time for some fun skydives along the way. People who do a tandem at putting their trust in the Instructor, instructors need to comprehend that and NEVER take advantage of it. That said, I did the rating course for the chalenge of it.
