Nightingale 0 #1 June 28, 2004 you know your job sucks when.... you'd rather go to the dentist and get 5 cavities filled than go to work and have to put up with your boss. I'm actually looking forward to the dentist. I have two separate appointments to get five different teeth drilled. They won't do it all in one sitting, because they'd have to numb both sides of my mouth at once, and they don't want to do that. novocaine doesn't work very well on me. and I'd still rather be at the dentist than at work. is that bad? skymut 0 #4 June 28, 2004 novocaine is fine...if you start with N20 come to think of it, nitrous sure would make work easier to deal with as well Matt A well-informed person is somebody who has the same views and opinions as yours.
Nightingale 0 #5 June 28, 2004 Novocaine/lidocaine/other stuff ending in "caine" has been used on me for stitches and the like. Not once has it succeeded in taking away all the pain. Lessens it a bit, but doesn't remove it. I dunno about the laughing gas stuff. I have to drive myself home. My parents are out of town, and the roommate is working, so I don't have a ride. skymut 0 #6 June 28, 2004 N20 probably isn't a good idea if you have to drive yourself home. good decision. but i do reiterate my point about using it at work Matt A well-informed person is somebody who has the same views and opinions as yours. skydiver30960 0 #7 June 28, 2004 My old dentist used nitrous on me a couple times and no problems! Nice and relaxing, didn't do much for the pain but you aren't as freaked out about what's going on. Every time I've used it, as soon as the little nose piece is pulled out, take a couple breaths, and you're right back to normal. Drive home, go to work, whatever... Nightingale 0 #8 June 28, 2004 and for the record, my boyfriend has offered to drive me, however, I told him no, because I would feel bad if he skipped work and drove all the way up from the other end of the county for something that will probably be trivial. (he was worried people would think he hadn't offered)
slug 1 #9 June 28, 2004 Hi Ng One of the reasons some dentists don't like to fill cavities on both side of your mouth at the same sitting is because it can screw up your Bite. The blue paper that they have you chomp down on to fine tune the fitting only works if youv've got a good side as a reference pt. Nitrious is a gasWhen Nitrious was centrally located in the dentists office it would alway be turned on in the store room and some of the connections would leak nitious. The indivual chairs would have a shutoff but there would be some leakage around the mask during use. In this area the dentists discourage the use nitrous by charging extra$$$. And use portable bottles to minimize leakage/exposure. And due to new school minimize the concentration. Every drug effects everyone else differently. The concentration of nitrous can be regulated by the amount of O2 in the mixture which is regulated at the chair. Pure nitious means no O2 My favorite dentist back east would give me the max concentration as soon as we sat down in the chair and he'd leave me alone to work on his other patients 20-30 minutes. When I started to totaly lose it I would lift the mask off for a couple of seconds. To come back to planet earth. When the Dentist finally got to me he wanted to share! Beware if your driving don't leave the dentists office until you know your Ok. I'm not a Doc but based on my experience the effects of nitrous are very short unless continusally administered. Talk to your Dr about it befor you go to his office if you want to know the real deal. R.I.P. R.I.P.

While I really enjoy my job, I quite frequently volunteer to drive my wife to the dr or dentist. Every now and then I find it a convenient way of making myself take some time off. Of course, I LIKE spending time with my wife, we can usually find a movie to see, or something. Matt A well-informed person is somebody who has the same views and opinions as yours.
