Cat Lover Question.

Recommended Posts

Yeah, I see all the cat killer stuff and it's pretty funny - I laugh. But I have a serious cat question. Has anyone else ever had a cat that had cat lukemia and cat aids. Our cat has both, and has had for the last several years. He is okay most of the time but if he gets a wound or a fever we have to get him to the vet right away. Just wondering if anyone else had had this with their cats and how long they lived with it.

Not me but our cat Kahli did have cancer[:/], we had to put her down after she suffered for about 6 months with it.
Single hardest thing I have EVER done. I cried like a little kid[:/] as she died in my arms (i was 37 at the time).
You are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky)

How's yours doing?

my 1st cat, felix, died of leukemia. i was a kid, but i remember it well. he lived to be 13, although im not sure how long he lived with the leukemia (how long he had it). i know that up until he turned about 12 he seemed like a happy kitty. so i guess he went about a year feeling under par before he finally died. but these days, with my experience as a vet tech, ive seen cats go for a long time feeling for the most part, good! you'll know when you've done enough and its his time to go..until then, treat him like a kitty king!!!!:P
Oh Canada, merci pour la livraison!

We had to put Mr. Kitty to sleep almost a year ago. I'm a pretty tough guy, but I cried more than my son did. He was the best damn cat ever. He has feline aids - I forgot what i was called, but he was in really bad shape and I couldn't watch it anymore. I hope he forgives me.... [:/]

We noticed he first started acting weird and took him to the vet. He had a few experimental treatments, but they said just make him happy. He lasted a few more months until he just stopped grooming himself and slept all the time. It was at that point where we couldn't see him that way.

Unfortuantely there isn't much they can do for those things. Cats can live for a long time with leukemia, but they go quickly with AIDS. Do not introduce another cat to the mix as the disease will be trasnfered to that cat fairly easily. Also need to keep a cat out of the household for 6 months after as it can stay in the house.

So sorry its happened to you, its so tough to see our furry friends sick or in pain:(
