FLYBERT71 0 #26 June 25, 2004 Jeanne, I don't know what happened between you and Tyson but do you think this is the appropriate way to handle it. I don't agree with everything he does but in the end he is the one responsible for the DZ. He spends A LOT of his time and energy trying to improve the place. Buying the 206, building a new manifest/student building, getting the Caravan whenever it was available even when the weather was crap. Remember that Snohomish is not a DZ first, it is an airport, and that being so, it has to be ran different than other DZ's. I'm not saying that it is the only one in the U.S. like it but that does matter in how it is ran. "If you have time to panic, you have time to do something more productive." karenmeal 0 #27 June 25, 2004 Steve: To redirect the conversation... (since it went off on a tangent.) We would love to see you out here! The area is unbelievably scenic and the people here rock. I've jumped all over the place and I have to say that the vibe here is definitely a good one. Hope you ignore all the jibber-jabber and decide to come out and see how cool Snohomish is for yourself. -Karen "Life is a temporary victory over the causes which induce death." - Sylvester Graham

LoisLane 0 #31 June 29, 2004 Wow, I am totally shocked at all of the slamming of this DZ and its owner that is going on here. I have nothing but support for Skydive Snohomish. It is a wonderful place to skydive and is getting better everyday. I am surprised that anyone would take such a childish approach, to something that was obviously between two people and should have been resolved the same way, don't take this the wrong way, but hey, news flash, Amazon, schools over, and life is just too damn short to take things so personally or try to ruin the reputation of someone and their business buy handling a grievance in this way. If you think running and owing a DZ is so easy then open up your own, and stop judging other people unless you have run a mile in their shoes. As an onlooker to this sport that my late husband loved so much, I am constantly impressed by all of the changes. I have seen over the last year. A new plane, new manifest area, safety day, the caravan whenever he can get it, licensed jumper events, a boogie this summer... and that is just the beginning. After all this DZO has done for me and my family over the several months, I am proud to call him my friend, and to call everyone that calls this DZ their home DZ my family. Amazon 7 #32 June 29, 2004 QuoteWow, I am totally shocked at all of the slamming of this DZ and its owner that is going on here Like I said in one of the earlier posts Shannon... BALANCE...there are some of us who just want to jump too. The new airplane does not mean too much if the only people who can get on it on the weekends are Tandems.... But.. Elaine took that as a slam.. If the original verbal abuse would have been handled in a different manner like saying the pilots are not qualified to fly a formatin load instead of verbally abusing someone who has spent THOUSANDS of dollars at your DZ. You are right it could have been handled differently. ITs a great place to skydive if you are a tandem or you have financial ties to the DZ.. but the Experienced jumpers come back over and over and spend money too. BUT the DZ does not make that 50% pure profit from every jump on an upjumper. Many others have said the same things.. in very hushed tones since they have a vested interest in not making someone unhappy. Other DZ's can and do provide a service to all the people who come thru thier doors. ITs the DZO's business to run as he sees fit. I love to skydive.. I will go where I can do that and have fun in the sky without having to wait all day to make a couple jumps with my friends. Look around.. how many people are doing solos over and over just to be able to get on the plane and make a jump...since the rest of the plane is devoted to tandems. The Caravan will be there soon..that will be good it will allow people to get some jumps this summer finally.
karenmeal 0 #33 June 29, 2004 Since you keep saying crappy stuff about the DZ I'd like to let people know how this whole issue started.. Jeanne insisted that the pilots fly formation loads for sunset. Unfortunately we only had one pilot who was qualified to do this, the other pilots were fairly new. Our main pilot was learning to fly a caravan (which we are getting in less than two weeks) so that we would have our own pilot to fly the plane that the DZ leases during the summer. Then Jeanne got pissed off at the DZO because she didn't get her way. Comparing a small (but growing) DZ to a large DZ with an otter, a boogie, or a club isn't really fair on the DZO. Just like you wouldn't walk into a little mom and pop grocery store and start bitching about them not having a special kind of curry... you just need to accept that a small DZ is very different than a larger one and that you need to be patient sometimes and accept that fact. The DZO here is trying to develop the DZ and is constantly learning and coming up with new ways to improve the place. If you had some patience you would get to be one of the people who will help make this an awesome DZ! (Which I personally already think it is.) There ya go.. I've said my piece. slug 1 #34 June 29, 2004 Fight! fight! fight! There are two sides to every story and then there's the truth. The locals already know whats going on (what ever it is) New jumpers will be able to figure it out once they get there. Who's going to win this: he said she said soap opera? The last person to post. I hope I win but I doubt it. Wheres the remote controlR.I.P.

slug 1 #37 June 29, 2004 Hi D22369 & livendive You guy's play hardball BTW the weather on the "other side of the mountains" is way to hot in the summet time. But the good news is that your DZ (anonomous) might be great for night jumps if it glows in the dark. R.I.P. B 7881
Amazon 7 #38 June 29, 2004 ITs up to post #38.. I was ready to quit playing at #16... BUt I guess his employees only saw that as a slam. You were right RIP. Its his DZ to run as he sees fit. I am moving on to other places. The summer will be fun. The Caravan at least when there is a plane load so it can fly, will solve some of the problems at Snohomish temporarily. When I want to jump with newer jumpers I can land at the dropzones without having to deal with the East Field/student field/ alternate landing field to wait an hour or so for the short bus to get a ride back to the airport. I used to have some friends there.. I guess its one of those cases where the sides are chosen in the divorce. As the prop turns... he gets custody of the firends too it seems... but I have many more. My side is to move on and have fun spending MY money where I get value for it.

slug 1 #40 June 29, 2004 Hi Amazon Your wrong again it's up to 40 now and still going I used to have some friends there.. I guess its one of those cases where the sides are chosen in the divorce. As the prop turns... he gets custody of the firends too it seems. IMO your incorrect (beat me beat me) If I had kids and had to drive from the north end of the metroplex to the south end to visit them I might not get to see them very often. Remember we previously dicussed getting together for a "Amazon" super lift and you said no problemo just drive on up to "snohomish" . Even for a short, perverted, male who enjoys being tossed around by 6'2" women the drive thru the metroplex just wasn't worth it. So I can understand why your jump buddies are going to stay up north for at least a while nothing personnel its the traffic The good news is we can practice the Amazon super lift without me having to drive to the north end I'm going to get my climbing gear, safety gear, exercise and practice my PLF's just in case these old little bones can't take it. The south end is waiting for the "Amazon" lets pick up the fall rate no one goes low.R.I.P.
