Charity Boogies

Recommended Posts

I brought up an idea in Speaker Corner about a boogie held as a non profit event. The event would sponsor bringing subscriptions of Parachutist and or Skydiving to the periodicals section of public schools nation wide.

Is there anyone that can help me figure out what the logistics of a project this size would be?

If this is too big a project for just one boogie - another logistics problem would be to delegate pieces and parts of the drive to various boogies throughout the International Skydiving Community.

Who wants to help?
I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama

We have wanted to take ours nationwide for a while. But there is a ton of work involved. My brother and I have at least 400 hours apiece per year for just this event.
We have been approached by 4 DZ'z across the country to take it there. I have always wanted to do Satellite events to raise money for the Scholarship.
I love to chat with you at SkyFest about and share my experience with you.
What I can't figure out is why there aren't more boogies like ours that raises money for Skydivers?
The more students we keep in the air, the more coaches we produce the greater the sport becomes. Everyone wins.

That's where this idea is springing from. Actually the conversations with Todd last night, his desire to be written in as a regional director for USPA, and the scolarships for training and coaching.

Then in Speakers corner someone bvrought up that they had too many Parachutist magazines being sent to their house.

Logically, it would generate interest if placed in a public school library, not to mention Public Community Librarys.

I found it relatively easy, once I thought about it, to locate a dropzone in my area. If I hadn't known someone that knew it even existed, I would have let that dream fade as well as so many others that already have.

I had NO IDEA that the sport was everything it is today - All that could have and WOULD have been changed, if only I would have had more or even SOME exposure to it earlier on in life.

Hence, if we can raise awareness that the sport is even a viable option and that you don't need to be anything other than willing to excell in something to be a part of it, we can increase the number of participants.

Sounds like the beginning of a new Team? I believe I have the resources to go bigger with the JSF and SkyFest , just lacking a Team. We need to chat, I will share some ideals with you in person at SkyFest.
Can't give away all the good ones.;)

I have been looking for ways to "give back" as so many of the people that I respect and look up to have done and are doing - maybe I have found it.
