I think part of the problem is the summer season has kicked in full force now, people are coming back out to jump and may not be quite as current or up to date as they think they are

Some of the injuries also stem from drinking and doing stupid stuff. It hurts when you know your friends are hurt and you can't go see them

I vow now, if I see stupid dunk trick at WFFC or any other boogie, I'm going to let those friends know that they are stupid, and try to stop them. I too don't want to see anymore people get hurt!

Carving turns in a crowded landing area.
Hook turns of any type.
Crosswind or downwind landings.

Unfortunately we are involved in a dangerous sport and even when people try not to do stupid things, they continue to occur. So we're likely to see many more incident reports (despite some people claiming that they won't mess themselves up) in the coming weeks and months. And some of the people who mess themselves up could be ourselves or people we know.

I'm off to jump in Wildwood NJ this weekend (jumping onto a beach ... not your normal DZ environment) and because of this I will need to do what I need to do in order not be stupid out there. But I'm only as good as my last jump and who knows what will happen on my next jump? But really ... if something bad does happen ... very few would notice and even less would care. That's just the way it is nowadays.
