skybytch 273 #3 July 14, 2004 Invest it so I could live comfortably for the rest of my life off the income it makes. Yeah right. I'd probably spend every last penny in no time at all on jumping, partying, traveling and spoiling my friends and family rotten.
ChasingBlueSky 0 #4 July 14, 2004 Get out of debt and set myself up so I could live a very simple, worry free life. I'd quit my job and find something I actually enjoy doing, and then go back to school to get my degree in Aviation. Oh yea, I'd finally get in all of those skydives that I have been dreaming about._________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... sunshine 2 #7 July 14, 2004 I would treat my bestest freind wingnut to an awesome vacation. He's always been soooo good to me and i'd love to repay him somehow. I'd also buy a ton of bouncy balls to throw out of a C182.... ___________________________________________ meow I get a Mike hug! I get a Mike hug! MarkM 0 #8 July 14, 2004 How significant? If it was really a lot, I'd buy the Pahokee airport, open up a DZ there and throw a huge party. Then I'd start working on putting up a tower somewhere near there just for base jumping. Then I'd bribe, er excuse me, donate to politicians that would be willing to support liability limitations for business that handle extreme sports. Snowbird 0 #14 July 14, 2004 Pay some bills - like Wingnut said, then I'd have more $ monthly to play with. Buy a better canopy. Like a new Safire2 149, red and yellow with black topskin... Get my family together for some sort of gathering. We currently span three provinces, and haven't seen each other, all at the same time, for 3 years. Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea. -Robert A. Heinlein
peacefuljeffrey 0 #15 July 14, 2004 I'd get to work on my instrument and commercial ratings. I'd try to find work -- even if I had to work cheap -- as a bush pilot somewhere. I think that'd be a fine life for me. Simple and full of beauty. But how much "change" are we talkin'? If it were like over $50,000, I'd do the above and throw in a rotary rating and a seaplane rating. I'd also buy a new custom rig in very Jeffrey-specfic colors and features (not that I'm at all dissatisfied with my rig now, but I would change the canopy colors to match the container). Oh, and I'd eat really really well, instead of just "well." Blue skies, -Jeffrey-Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!" ladyskydiver 0 #17 July 14, 2004 Depending on amount of $$$ - Pay off debt. Plan a really good vacation. "Drag" some of my friends/family on the vacation with me. Buy a new canopy. Get some jumps in. Save some of the money so that I didn't have to worry about $$ coming in and then go volunteer at the Humane Society. Pay for some of the classes I'll need to take in cash.Life is short! mouth 0 #18 July 14, 2004 The money had stipulations on it so I used it to buy a nice new house with a payment I could easily afford. What I saved in house payments I'm playing with. mailin 0 #19 July 14, 2004 lol - I spend much too much time thinking of this! 1. Pay off all debt (credit cards and car) 2. Pay for the rest of my degree 3. Go on a cool vacation 4. Finish AFF and get a rig 5. Put a downpayment on land and build a house 6. Spoil my family and friends 7. Have fun! JenArianna Frances
turtlespeed 226 #20 July 14, 2004 I would pay off all my bills, buy some more gear, take a shit load of coaching - and then buy a wind tunnel. After all that - I would make sure to give Turtlespeed enough money to jump for free for the rest of his life. Oh, and I'd buy a brewery, and move it to the dropzone.I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun

PurpleWill 1 #23 July 14, 2004 I'll open a night club in Johannesburg with floors for all things dark and alternative and I will bring over the bands that should but doesn't come to South Africa. The profits should pay for all the first jump couses I want to give and keep my buddies and me in a state of perpetual free fall. There is a lot of stuff worth doing but then there is a lot of stuff worth doing instead. PrairieDoug 0 #25 July 14, 2004 On a more serious note, the recipient should be aware that a financial windfall can be accompanied by some new challenges, of a sort that they may not be well equipped to deal with. For example, it has been documented that many lottery winners end up resenting their good fortune because of these issues. Of course, it doesn't HAVE to work out that way -- a windfall can allow positive life changes (for you and others) if managed wisely.
