StearmanR985 0 #1 July 14, 2004 Well, things have not worked out in my favor as of late. Buying a House + Fighting with Car Insurance = Sell everything I can. So, this Saturday at the Lodi Boogie will be my last day of skydiving for quite some time. ALL of my gear will go up for sale the following Monday. It is a matter of necessity. Hope some of you can join me for some fun jumping during the day and some much needed partying during the evening. I am angry and bitter...I have nothing else to say. skybill 22 #2 July 14, 2004 Sell the House and car and move to the DZ and have your Pizza's delivered!!! You can't win any other way!! It's a WHUFFO controled world and they are out to get us!!! Sorry to hear about your troubles. If possible sell everything else but try to keep your rig! Even ditch the cypress but keep the rig. JohnMitchell 16 #7 July 14, 2004 Don't worry. The sport will still be here when you get things straightened out and want to come back. Just about everyone has to take a little time off every now and then. Hope you come back soon.
vdschoor 0 #8 July 14, 2004 Jeff, Do the right thing, and obviously you decided the right thing for you right now is to choose your family and everything that comes with that. The sport will be there after you've figured out your finances, I am glad I finally got to meet you last weekend before you put the sport on hold.. (I am not calling this quitting.. you're taking a break) Hope you'll be back soon! Iwan

bodypilot1 0 #10 July 14, 2004 Sorry to hear that Jeff. Some people just dont have the smarts to know they cant afford to jump when they have a family that needs other priorities, and it's good you have made the choice to have them come first. Selling your gear is no big deal, I can find you something safe to jump if you give me some heads up when your thinking of coming out, and if your uncurrent I'd be glad to jump with you to make sure your still safe. I'll see you this weekend. -www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com

nws01 0 #14 July 14, 2004 I'm in the same boat as you. I "cutaway" and left my $80,000 a year job about 2 1/2 years ago and worked on dropzones. I now have credit card debts I have to pay. Also, I found out that an owner of a dropzone where I left my car because I could not afford to go get it filed an abondonment lein on it and now has the title. So I am still paying $330 a month to Carmax for a car that I do not "legally" own and I can't afford a new or used one right now. In order to get the car back I will have to hire an attorney and pay those charges. I'm selling my rig and I will be out of the sport too.

Hey at least you got about 2 years of memories even if some are bummers, most of them should bring a smile to your face. Stearman dude, I know the feeling.. Haven't jumped in almost 2 years. I also sold my gear and gave up jumping for moola reasons. Sucks being addicted to something so strongly then have repsonsibilities slap you in the face!! StearmanR985 0 #16 July 14, 2004 Thanks for all the kind words everyone. It does suck but it is TEMPORARY and for the greater good of my family. Luckily, my wife Lorrie doesn't want to see me give it up any more than I want to so she is behind getting me back up ASAP. I may just take Ed and Kris up on their offers. I could pay in the form of WINE? Jeffrey

Shawndiver 0 #21 July 15, 2004 Hey Jeff, Good to hear that this will be a temporary thing, don't do what I did and take a 10 year break, I'm not sure you have that many good years left in you! RoadRash 0 #23 July 15, 2004 I feel your pain man...I found out recently that I had to make a pretty important choice and due to the fact that I can't keep making payments in a couple of months....well... After WFFC, I have to sell my rig and put off jumping for quite a while. I think that is one of the reasons why I am depressed even when I am out at the DZ. ~R+R...It sounds like you are gonna have a lot of help though...good luck!~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Fly the friendly skies...^_^...})ii({...^_~...
