Piranha's feeding time.

Recommended Posts

hey, my mom's a science teacher. nothing grosses me out. In the house I grew up in, finding hundreds of dead frogs in the fridge waiting for disection was a regular occurance. I used to watch my brother's turtle devour live goldfish, and help my teacher feed the mice to the classroom snake.

and yes, the mouse is cute and furry and adorable, but it is still edible and viable pirhana munchie. I have two pet rats and adore them, so I am a bit of a rodent sympathizer, but its nature. nothing gross or cruel about it. the fish have to eat too.

Was it's leg ripped off when it was trying to swim back to the top? That's so messed up! I wonder what would happen if you put your hand in there and wiggled it around for a while...

I used to feed my friends snake little mice. They didn't have the heart to do it so I would. Not the pink ones, these were just sort of like teenage mice. It was fun to watch the snake chase it around and around the tank and strike at it and the poor little mouse was scared to death. Then he'd catch it and slowly swallow the little creature.
Morbid isn't it?

Piranahas are not as bad as they are made out to be. In the wild, Piranaha only attack/eat the wounded animals. If your hand has a cut on it they might take a bite. After the rainy season when the waters start to dry up a group of piranaha will get trapped in a small pool. Evenutally they will eat all of the other fish and turn cannablistic. Only when they are starving with no food with they attack en mass and devour a healthy animal.

I didn't see the video, not my cup o' tea but I can only assume they were very hungry when the mouse was introduced.

We got to go piranaha fishing while we were in the Amazon and they are quick! We were using cow liver as bait and they would attack and before you could get them hooked they were gone. The ones we did catch though were pretty determined to get another bite at something, either us or more bait in the boat. The red belly ones are the worse.
<--- See look, pink dolphins DO exist!

Whe I was a freshman in college, I had a ribbon snake (Zeke) and my roommate hada couple of Chacoan Horned Frogs - Bubba and Bernie. We usually fed them goldfish.

However, Bubba and Bernie liked mice, too. We'd kill them first via sudden deceleration. So Jim and I decided to breed them to make it cheaper (in his desk drawer). For a four blonde mice (white - close enough) they were smart. Two of them escaped and we finally got rid of them because the smell was so bad.

Those frogs were pretty awesome, though.

My wife is hotter than your wife.
