peacefuljeffrey 0 #1 July 6, 2004 Decided to buy it because it was only ten bucks at Target. The "Archangels" are cool. They're jumpers who act as bait and trappers for dragons. There's a scene where they're jumping through clouds with a dragon in pursuit, and you can see they're tracking like mad. One guy goes in because he comes out of a cloud with about 200 feet to the rocky ground. Apart from being in a really long freefall for having jumped from 5,000', it's a pretty cool scene. Then there's another one for the pilots among us, where the main character is hiding from a dragon that has just burned the castle and is leaving. The dragon flies over some smouldering embers, and the embers actually spiral in wingtip vortices that come off the dragon's flapping wings. When I saw that, I went, "Cooool!" Decent, but underrated movie. What'd you all think of it? Blue skies, --Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!" tonyhays 86 #2 July 6, 2004 I saw it just because of the skydiving scene!! Other than that, I thought it was a big disappointment. Especially the ending, when the main character kills the father of all dragons with nothing more than a crossbow.“That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.”

It wasn't that bad, was it? I thought it was kinda cool to see McConaughy (how the hell do you spell his name) all ripped and tattooed and bald. Neat look for him. I saw "The Wedding Planner" and he looked like a dork in that... Blue skies, --Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!" skymut 0 #7 July 6, 2004 I saw this movie when it was out in the theaters. The skydiving parts were okay, but I have a real hard time when a 5k jump lasts 3 or 4 minutes...it's just too hard to get past. I agree that Matt M looked pretty wild, and ripped in that movie. He makes you want to go to the gym and lift some weights. Unlike others on the thread, I'm going to go ahead and agree that this movie fell into the 'better than I expected' categorey. I seen a LOT worse movies than this, and at least a couple of them centered around skydiving. I spent 2 dollars and caught a matinee, and I feel I got my money's worth. You can't head toward a movie like that expecting to get acting like 'A Few Good Men' or any kind of realism. You go to a movie like that expecing nothing more than some action and entertainment. If you expected more, you only have yourself to blame. Now, for recent movies that I expected more out of, The Punisher - that was a SUPER STINK FEST. Real MST3K fodder. bch7773 0 #8 July 6, 2004 it was an ok movie. the skydiving scenes were ok, but why the hell didn't the dragon just go chomp the chopper?! that pissed me off MB 3528, RB 1182

What's more ridiculous than the notion of massive dragons living off the charcoal of life they just spent a billion joules of energy smoking? That makes as much sense as Bush's alternative energy plan. But I like those English world coming to end movies. Give me a couple pints and it's ok stuff. What's more ridiculous than the notion of massive dragons living off the charcoal of life they just spent a billion joules of energy smoking? I KNOW! I was thinking, "Um, what's left in ASH that would sustain the dragons biologically? Didn't they just USE a lot of energy to burn the stuff they burned? Didn't they just release its chemical energy?" Then there were times when the dragons were starving, and they were eating their own to survive. So which is it? Do they eat ash, or do they eat fresh kills? I guess the writers had to have a justification for the evolution of the bi-chemical incendiary gland theory... I still liked the visuals in the movie a LOT. The dragon effects where actually quite good, even the last scene when Quinn kills the big male. Blue skies, --Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!" Zenister 0 #13 July 12, 2004 your really really kidding right? that movie sucked (if you are a skydiver, otherwise its not bad action flick) i can think of 10 easier ways off the top of my head to 'kill dragons' easier than that.. 1. can you say CRW wrap? i agree with Q, no more movie reviews for you...____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. jackhackett 0 #14 July 19, 2004 Only the exit was actual skydiving footage- all the rest was CGI! What makes that really sad was that the jumpers hired by the film company did nearly sixty jumps, landing in a lake afterwards. All that footage on the cutting room floor My favourite part of that movie was when Matthew MacConaughty announces that he landed a C-5 at Manchester and he's on his way to London. So what's he doing in Scotland?
