Hey Quade...the History Channel is running a Space Race marathon right now - I've been watching it for the past two hours. Talk about some awesome pictures. wmw999 2,589 #4 July 21, 2004 A longtime friend of mine who worked at the space center then said that everyone there felt as though they were helping to send a man to the moon -- lawn guys, cafeteria workers, everyone. Real team atmosphere. Here's to folks who get together and get stuff done Wendy W.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)

SkymonkeyONE 4 #7 July 21, 2004 I watched the event live on the TV in my grandmother's house. I remember it very clearly.
kallend 2,150 #8 July 21, 2004 I was a graduate student and didn't own a TV, so I watched it at the University Centre which stayed open specially for the event (it was early hours a.m. (in the UK) when Armstrong stepped on the Moon).... ltdiver 3 #9 July 22, 2004 I was at a friend's house. My parents were on vacation. That was nice, as we didn't have a tv at the time anyway. Saw the landing on a small b&w. Other things I remember about that day. A swing set. Bushes with those round red berries that you'd shoot through straws at each other. Geeze, I was only 5! Give me a break! :^) ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
climbnjump 0 #10 July 22, 2004 I was 12 at the time. As a kid, I was glued to the TV for every single Apollo takeoff and watched all the TV coverage of every mission. But some months before the Apollo 11 mission, my folks had made arrangements to send me to summer camp in late July. They weren't aware, of course, that the dates they picked coincided with the moon shot. There was no TV there, so I didn't get to watch this one. I was crushed. I think I finally forgave my folks for that about the time I turned 40...
