EdC 0 #1 July 17, 2004 My wife’s' 03 Civic EX has turned into Christine and developed a mind of its own. The car has about 15k miles and it has some serious electrical issues. Today the power door locks stopped working, the intermittent wipers don't work with the switch although the wipers will move on their own with the switch in the off position. When you hit the power door lock switch, the instrument cluster lights will flash on and off. When you turn on the emergency flasher / hazard switch, there is a buzzing noise from under the dash. The turn signals don't work, the indicators on the cluster will not even light up. The power windows work intermittently. Has anyone else had electrical issues with their 2003 Civics? The car is at the dealer now and they gave me a loaner CRV to play with until her car is fixed. Big Ed
diablopilot 2 #2 July 17, 2004 Sounds like a bum electrical system was installed from the get go. Still under warrenty? Tell em' you won't be satisfied with anything less than a complete wiring harness replacement.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. adrenalinejunki 0 #3 July 17, 2004 sounds like the wiring harness has shorted and /or burned the insulation off some of the wires. a new harness is the only way to fix it. __________________________________________________What's the worst that can happen? EdC 0 #4 July 24, 2004 Ok, the car has been fixed. The dealer called on Monday and said it was the multiplexer control unit and it would take two days to get the part. The part came in on Thursday and the dealer installed the multiplexer and that didn't fix it. Apparently, there was a loose ground connection under the bumper but they didn't tell me if it was under the front or rear bumper but they said they had to pull the bumper off the car to get to the ground point. Not so quick to resort to drastic measures. I'm glad to hear they have correctly diagnosed your problem. I design instrument panels for Honda. They have very complete electrical troubleshooting manuals. What do you think of the CRV? It has more interior space than a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Reclining back seats are great for kids to be able to sleep, as minivans allow.People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am

diablopilot 2 #7 July 24, 2004 QuoteWhat do you think of the CRV? I think it's as ugly as sin. QuoteIt has more interior space than a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Yeah but my Cherokee looks sexier I like Hondas, had frequent use of a Civic Hatchback for a while and was amazed at the room and performance. Right now two smaller atractive Vehicals on the market to me are the Toyota Matrix, and the Scion B. I think the Scion to be a bit under powered however.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
