cocheese 0 #1 July 24, 2004 Do you have some really close friends on here that you never met and possibly never will ? ( because they live on the other side of the world etc. )I've become so close to two of the sweetest women on dz.com. Not telling who and don't try to guess. ( just friends not trying to date or anything)Both live so far away, but it feels like we are a lot closer. Meeting one at the convention. And the other, well, maybe someday i hope.Sometimes i ask why be friends, but i'm so happy to have the sweetest friends... when i'm away from the real drop zone and friends there.Going to dz now. Reply away.( isn't it cool to come home to a post filled thread ?) hint

VanillaSkyGirl 6 #6 July 24, 2004 What a sweet post! Yes, there are people whom I'd love to meet and whom I cannot wait to see, again...soon. Then again, there are many people whom I really like and have yet to meet. Sadly, we must not forget that there are all kinds of people on the internet, even some who are all smiles as they insert the shiny silver between the blades. Still, I have no regrets after meeting most people from DZ.com. Life is about having all kinds of experiences and about meeting all kinds of people ~ good or bad. Hopefully the love and true friendships that we have gained here far outweigh any negativity. It is still my belief that people are basically good...even though there is an occasional rotten apple in the tree. Thank you for such a beautiful post, Cocheese. I look forward to meeting you one day soon, my friend.
 billvon 3,121 #11 July 25, 2004 I met a woman, Jan Davis, on line a while back. We had a great on-line conversation, emailed a lot, talked on the phone, planned to meet some day. Amy went up to stay with her for a weekend during the AFF JCC, but came back before I got a chance to get up there. I figured some month, some year I'd meet her. She died a few months after that on a skydive, when her canopy got entangled with her ringsight. Was sort of a shocker to know that this woman I'd gotten to know really well was gone just like that. Michele 1 #25 July 27, 2004 QuoteDo you have some really close friends on here that you never met and possibly never will ? ( because they live on the other side of the world etc. ) Yes, I do. I have some of the most amazing friends I've met through DZ.com, and who would move heaven, earth, and dead bodies should the need arise. I have indeed been blessed with those who have become true friends; those who are loyal, kind, considerate, compassionate. Those who are funny, friendly, and persistent in their friendship. Who would, when the chips were down, protect me, regardless of if I knew of that treachery or not. Some of them I have met. Some I have not. There is no difference between the two; friendship, respect and decency transcends boundaries and financial barricades. A true friend is someone your heart has met, and not simply someone you have already met, or physically spent time with. I have met many people from this place, and some of the truest friends are people I may never meet face to face. These are the treasures of the world. Those who would be friends if they knew how to be, or those who friendship only exists when times are good - I've met those too. But those few who are real friends, trustworthy and honest in their friendship...those are not necessary to meet, but will remain true regardless of physical distance. To those true friends, both far and near, I say "thank you. And may your road be easier as you've made mine easier."
