masher 1 #3 July 27, 2004 That's League. There is a big difference between the two sports. Comparing the two is a bit like comparing soccer and grid iron. You yanks have 2 teams per side offense and D. In Rugby once your on the field you only come of on a stretcher And it ain't as common as it used to be. BLOODY SAFETY RULES Since it went full time PRO all the pansies have gotten soft and don't wanna get hurtYou are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! How's yours doing?
AggieDave 6 #8 July 27, 2004 Yeah, but that's College Ball, that's the football that matters.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
PLFKING 4 #9 July 27, 2004 QuoteYeah, but that's College Ball, that's the football that matters. Damn skippy ! I remember that hit. Biggest lick I ever saw was in a Nebraska / Oklahoma game in the early 70s....Neb. recieved the kickoff, the returner jumped out from behind his blockers at the 15, and some Sooner with a full head of steam just LEVELED him.....the returner ended up back on the 10 yard line. I think it was during the Johnny Rogers era, but it wasn't him. A close second is Todd Howard's hit on a Nittany Lion back or TE a few years ago in the Michigan - Penn State game....they were both reunning full speed ahead and met at the sideline. Keith Jackson described it as a "de-cleater." Don"When in doubt I whip it out, I got me a rock-and-roll band. It's a free-for-all."
usedtajump 1 #10 July 27, 2004 Quote Now is it Rugby or Australian rules football? Is there a difference? Speaking of Austrailian Rules Football, a few nights ago, this "Yank" watched an AFL game on the channel that usually has soccer. I had seen Aussie Rules on tv in the past and I always wondered WTF are those guys doing, this game makes no sense at all. Before the start of this game, I read over the rules and got somewhat educated about it. Hey, it turns out that its a real interesting game with some hits (no pads, no helmets) that you wonder how they survive. Now, I wish they'd show a game a week. Aussie Rules Football rocks!!!The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
