baa75 0 #1 July 28, 2004 I’m never driving a car again! I’ll stick to jumping out of planes, its safer! I got rear-ended AGAIN on my way to work this morning! I was sitting at a red light and a teenage girl just runs right into me. My foot slipped off the brake and I hit the guy in front of me. She’s driving a 1980’s boat of a car and his looks like he uses it to play bumper cars. Mine is of course my 1 year old baby that has already been rear-ended once before! Ugh! The girl pulls into the parking lot next to where my car is sitting in the street, opens the door and after hanging up her cell phone looks at me and says (with cell phone in hand) “I don’t know what to do.” So what was the phone call about? I figured she was calling the police or something, not just chatting! I can’t even tell if she was on the phone when she hit me but she obviously wasn’t going to admit to it. She says she has “no idea” how she hit me. At least the guy in front of me was cool about it. He said he’s fine and his car is fine, he just wanted to get to work. We had to search to even find the two small scratches from my front plate on his car, his car is covered in them. Mine has some scratches on the front, not too bad. The back bumper looks like crap. Hopefully that’s all that will need replaced. I just went through this in September! So now I’m sitting here at work. My head is throbbing and my neck is killing me. Looking at my PC makes it worse. I’m waiting for my insurance company to call me back to get an estimate on repairs. At least I know (from experience) that Progressive is quick with claims. Sorry about the long post. I’m just pissed off and in pain so I thought I’d share. BettyAnn Getting married? Check out my website!
mailin 0 #2 July 28, 2004 I feel your pain! My car got rear ended twice within 3 weeks earlier this year. My husbands car (in my name) got rear ended and they totalled it - but only gave us $2k of the $3400 that was owed... so we're left holding the bag on the remainder and I just got a letter from the finance ppl saying that if I don't pay the remaining balance within 10 days that its going to collection. So let me get this straight... someone totals the car and it goes against my credit????!?!?!?! UGH!!!! JenArianna Frances

Pain management can be a long slow process, you don't want to wait.. Once the plane takes off, you're gonna have to land - Might as well jump out!! mailin 0 #5 July 28, 2004 Ya, Betty... see a doctor! If you wait too long they may not pay for your doctors bills. I was seeing a chiropractor for 6 months after one of my accidents. JenArianna Frances
baa75 0 #6 July 28, 2004 Dang, you have worse luck than me! At least when I totalled my car last year I got enough out of it for a nice down payment on a new one. I totalled my first car Jan 03 (flipped it on the roof), got rear-ended in my very first brand new car in Sept 03 and now again in July 04. I'm going to just live & work at the DZ so I don't have to drive anywhere. That or I'm just not stopping at red lights anymore because obviously others don't bother to! BettyAnn Getting married? baa75 0 #7 July 28, 2004 The police were there within a minute of the accident so its all on record. In PA your own ins covers any medical expenses regardless of who is at fault. Pretty stupid huh? I'm already seeing a chiropractor for before so I'll be stopping in to see him. BettyAnn Getting married? Check out my website!

Casurf1978 0 #9 July 28, 2004 Man I'm right there with you bro. Some BITCH hits my car on sat night, freaking just went into my lane and WHAM the drivers side door, and half of that side it totaled. Car is drivable. Ok so Ms.Bitch pulls to the side, after one witness in a car pointed for her to pull over. My bud and I go to talk to her and do the accident BS and shes ON THE F-ING phone. I was like ok shes calling the cops, good. No freaking girl was talking to her friend. I was like put the phone down and lets exchange info she was like OK. Luckily I snapped a pic or her license plate and wrote it down. Ok she gets out of the car while still on the phone, I kept my cool and went over to my car. She followed looked at the damage and said she would be right back. Freaking girls gets in her car and takes OFF. Then I called the cops and reported a hit and run. I have full coverage and all, plus unisured motorist. OK so I call the insurance comp and give the whole statement BS. I was like ok since she left it falls under unisured motorist correct. If it falls under that no detuctible..woohooo. Nope since I got her license plate they're going to trace her. So now I gotta dish out 500 for the detuctible and pay rental car fees event though I have that rental car rental insurance BS. So far my cars gonna take at least two weeks and the insurance comp says it will take aprox 4-12 weeks to settle this since its a hit and run and they have to wait for the police report. Which will take aprox 4 weeks. WTF. Now I'm outof at least 500 plus at least 2 weeks rental car fees. And I was saving up for my first canopy. I know in CA max jail time for a non felony hit and run is 6 months. Right now I dont care about money I just want this chick in jail even if its for 2 days. AggieDave 6 #10 July 28, 2004 file a police report and go to the Dr. RIGHT NOW! If I get rear-ended in my truck hard enough to do any sort of damage (over 5mph) I'm waiting for the police and I'm complaining of neck pain (which is likely from rearendings) and going to the hospital right then and there. That way everything is documented correctly for when I take their sorry ass to court! If someone hits me while I'm riding my bike...well, I'm sure I'll be going to the hospital anyways, so all the paperwork will definately be in order for the coming lawsuit. Basically, if you're such a dipshit that you hit me from behind, your ass is going to be in a finacial world of hurt, I want to make sure you learn your lesson and my life is put back together. --"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." kingbunky 3 #11 July 28, 2004 didn't happen to me, but as i was leaving the grocery store last night, there were a bunch of jeeps (must have been a club) parked next to the road. a cab driver pulls in, and must have been looking at all the jeeps and runs right into a light pole. no big damage tot he car, but he hit it hard enough to fire off the air bags. i imagine he felt some stupid with about 40 guys standing there watching him do it. Bwwwahahahahahahahahahahahaahahaha! People are morons! Whats even better is if the airbag fires, it kills the ignition, your car won't run until it is basically reset.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." jtval 0 #13 July 28, 2004 theres a line in tombstone ( i think) kurt russell & sam elliot etc..(edited to add the comma. it looked like i coulda been talking about four guys named kurt, russell, sam and elliot before I edited this) QuoteThe girl pulls into the parking lot next to where my car is sitting in the street, opens the door and after hanging up her cell phone looks at me and says (with cell phone in hand) “I don’t know what to do.” So what was the phone call about? If you file a suit all of that is included as well as "pain and suffering". Just a word of warning that it can take a long time. It's been more than 6 months... and I'm still waiting. Um, what are they going to collect on? The ruined remains of the car from the junk yard? Make a good faith offer to pay off the remaining balance over time, if they don't like it they can go screw themselves and you can dispute any mark they put on your credit report(you offered to pay it off, they were just being dicks about it). tsampson 0 #19 July 28, 2004 Florida is also a "no-fault" state when it comes to medical bills in auto accidents, but that only goes so far. Once the bills exceed your maximum limit, which depends on your individual coverage, the other party could be liable for covering your bills. Also, again depending on your coverage, your policy may only cover a percentage of the bills, after a deductable. The other driver's insurance might cover the portion not paid by your insurance. Check to see if your state's laws are similar to these.
