A hybrid I would like to drive

Recommended Posts

I would actually think about buying a Hybrid if they didn't look like rollerskates and handle like a box of wet rags.

Now this Toyota Volta is what I'm talking about. B|

This second generation Hybrid Synergy Drive system uses the 3.3-liter V6 common to a variety of Toyota/Lexus products, plus two powerful electric motors to produce a phenomenal 408 horsepower (300 kW). Needless to say the lightweight sports car is quick, shooting forward from standstill to 100 km/h in a sizzling 4.03 seconds before reaching a terminal velocity of 250 km/h (155 mph).

If driven more moderately a single 7.5 liter (13.7 gallon) tank of gasoline should result in approximately 700 km (435 miles).

Okay, If I hadn't met both of you, I'd swear that you and Aggiedave were one and the same person.

Umm, what ? 7.5 litres is just under 2 US gallons(which are smaller than our gallons neener, neener, neener;)) 13.7 gallons is about 52 litres.:S

Edited to add, dayumm, PiisFiish beat me to it while I dawdled about converting crazy non standard units of volume........B|

You wanna watch that CtrlC and CtrlV though, it got our prime minister into a spot of bother with a dodgy dossier of dubious data not so long ago. B| Caused a bit of a ruckus.

And how do you do the picture thing?

I noticed a new feature in the "Get Markup Help" link that allowes you to post a picture within your thread without making people click an attachment link. Dunno how long it will last but it's a neat new feature.

There are a bunch of new hybrids coming out pretty soon. Ford has one of their SUV's (the Escape) as a hybrid, Honda has the Accord V6 coming out, and Toyota is going to be coming out with a Highlander hybrid version. It will be spec'd to tow 3500 pounds and should get around 37mpg, even in 4WD.

Priapus is a god of fertility, protector of horticulture and viticulture. His statue, holding a wooden sickle in his hand, was used in the Roman gardens as scarecrow, and his enormous penis as a threat against thieves.

Either it's an elaborate sendup, or Toyota's suddenly developed a sense of humor....

Well since you posted this question to it, I checked a couple of the other links to stories. I think it's a hoax :( This link for the same website Tennis Fans Await Kournikova, Sharapova Girl-on-Girl Action This story got my attention about as much as Toyota building that Hybrid.

yup, I've actually been waiting for this - a V6 or V8 4WD Hybrid. I own a gas-guzzling 4WD JEEP and love it. But the only thing I don't like about it is the amount of gas it gulps. The 2005 Highlander actually has more HP than my current V8 model. Probably not as much torque, but as long as it gets me up to Tahoe without wishing I had something beefier - it's all good.

If the price is right, I just might be making a trade-in next year. :)
