Chicken FEET $1.49 lb.

Recommended Posts

Ok, someone please enlighten me. I just got back from the grocery store, bought some chicken to fix for dinner. There in between all the breasts, legs, wings & stuff were FRIGGIN' FEET!!! They were cut off right about where the ankle(?) would be. Claws & all. They were simply labeled as "MEAT". WTF? How do you eat the FEET?? How do you fix them? What is a good side dish? Anyone ever had them??? Like I said, someone please enlighten me. :S Thanks, Don

Come on...you gotta try the kosher soup.

Soaking and scraping the skin result in a much cleaner broth and almost no scum rising to the surface of the soup to be skimmed away during cooking.

Cooking
Add the cleaned chicken parts and feet to the pot, including the neck, the neck skin, and the gizzard but not the liver because it will make the soup taste bitter. (yeah...i'm sure it's the liver, all that other stuff is fine)

Add 3 quarts (12 cups) boiling water to the pot, and cook, uncovered, over highest heat until the water comes to a boil again. Reduce heat slightly, and let the ckicken cook for about 5 minutes, skimming away any gray gook that rises to the surface.

Hahahahhaha!

Okay, so I was in Cusco, Peru, having just hiked the Inca Trail to Machu Piccu. We were exhausted, starving, and ready to kick back.

We went to this "Chicken" restaurant for dinner. Looked like the most "familiar" kind of food we could find. They serve everything chicken and very fresh.

I'm getting to the bottom of the BEST bowl of chicken soup I've had in my entire life. And just then, my spoon knocks into something. I dig it out and sure enough it is a CHICKEN FOOT!!!! I kind of yelped in shock and just got completely disgusted. My friend Kelly stabbed her fork into the foot and started walking it around the table. All of the locals just stared at the crazy American chicks and laughed.

That is MY chicken foot story. :D:D

Thanks for all the input guys!! Damn that's funny!! :D Once I realized what I was looking at I started laughing like crazy & couldn't stop, everyone was giving me strange looks. Must have stood there 5 minutes. I thought "Not much meat on those suckers!! Guess I could always pick my teeth with one of the claws when I'm done!!" :P Don
