happythoughts 0 #1 August 3, 2004 Fanmarker Inn I just got a call. Today is Aug 3rd. My reservation is for Aug 7th. I've had the reservation for a month. "Due to a computer glitch, the rate of $29 we quoted you (and confirmed by email) has been changed to $39." I called up and explained that it is too late to change hotels now. I could have gotten a better rate a month ago. Now that all the hotels are booked, they raise the rate. I have a reservation. There response was "Well, normally the room rate is $69." Umm, that's why I rented the room a month in advance. This is obviously a ripoff. I cancelled the room and got another one. I'll have to pay more money, but I'd rather do that than deal with liars. There is now a room available, and it is close to the airport. However, just a warning, not all the air conditioners work. Last year, I had buddies in two different rooms that said their a/c didn't work. I hate liars.
towerrat 0 #2 August 3, 2004 Bill, Don't let that go. I would report them to everyone I could, including the police. That is illegal. Make sure you save the e-mails and any other correspondence.I'm pretty sure that is either price gouging or bait and switch, both are fraud. On another note, I have heard nothing but bad things from that place, I think we should boycott it.Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!
happythoughts 0 #3 August 3, 2004 It is a dive as far as quality goes. I doubt that a boycott will work, because it is convenient. They rented all the rooms and then decided to rip people off. Besides, if someone is in business and quotes someone a price in writing, an honest person will honor their deal. That is the ethical way to run a business. This is obviously just a scam. I may write a letter to the editor of a local newspaper later on after I cool down.
ChasingBlueSky 0 #4 August 3, 2004 Th AC didn't work, the non smoking room smelled like it held a smoking convention in it, one of the windows didn't open, and the "free TV" was nothing but static. We asked them twice a day to fix any of it and they said they would, but never did. I had to go get a fan and a bunch of candles to make the room livable. "Fancrapper" is what we kindly refered to it as._________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
