Muenkel 0 #1 August 4, 2004 I've come to the conclusion that this was a brilliant idea. Major props to the moderators and HH for coming up with this. Yea, there are still some bannings, locked threads and some spankings, but it seems to me that there are a lot less since the end of Talkback. Am I wrong? AggieDave 6 #2 August 4, 2004 Yeah, over here on this side of the fence. Every once in a while I go over to the corner and see whats going on. Sometimes I even post. Every time I do, it pisses me off, so after every time I do that I don't go back for a while. Basically Speakers Corner is 10x's worst then wreck-dot ever was for personal attacks and flamings. On the upside, its kept Bonfire pretty civilized.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

I swear my blood pressure increases exponentially when I read threads and make posts in the Corner...so I stick to the lighter side...it has kept my blood pressure down...... ~R+R...Kennedy on the other hand...I truly don't know how he does it...every single day...my head would explode......~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Fly the friendly skies...^_^...})ii({...^_~... Muenkel 0 #4 August 4, 2004 I think I don't take Speaker's Corner so personally. Kennedy probably doesn't either. I've always enjoyed debating issues such as politics or religion. But I think I can do it without it pissing me off. Sometimes I fail, but for the most part I think I keep a certain level of decorum. I'm very impressed with myself. _________________________________________ Chris
sunshine 2 #5 August 4, 2004 I don't go to speaker's corner. I wish it had the option to hide that forum like the internationl ones. Bonfire does seem to be much more enjoyable since it's not cluttered with all that stupid political crap. ___________________________________________ meow I get a Mike hug! I get a Mike hug! lawrocket 3 #7 August 4, 2004 Speakers Corner is a different animal. I dont' mind it. It's pretty educational to me, since I get to see a lot of different viewpoints on a lot of issues. Fortunately I don't get flamed. Just ignored. My wife is hotter than your wife.

Kennedy 0 #15 August 4, 2004 Every now and then, I wish the Corner was face to face, just so I could smack some people up the side of their head. Other than that, I just like the mental workout of arguing with people. nacmacfeegle 0 #16 August 4, 2004 "Besides, it's fun to tell socialists how they're wrong, and then to show them." No its not, and prove it. I think a lot is misinterpreted, a face to face would probably avoid a lot of the ill feelings as subtleties such as intonation, and facial expressions are lost in the medium, so the humour tends to give way to cynicism. People really should try, remember why we are here, what binds us, and also that the political chats really should take second place to the jumping.
