TomAiello 26 #1 August 3, 2004 I've noticed that I refrain from posting about a quarter of the things I type in the "post" box. I get to the end, and just decide I'm not really adding anything to the discussion. Does anyone else do this? Or am I just neurotic?-- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com
Fast 0 #2 August 3, 2004 Nah, I have done it a few times. Most of the time with me its stuff that makes sense to post, but I don't post it because eventually someone with higher jump numbers will post it anyways. Why post something if it won't get taken seriously. So I lurk the topical forums more than I post.~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. SkymonkeyONE 4 #3 August 3, 2004 I have typed out quite a few doozies when I was pissed off that I, ultimately, refrained from posting or at least greatly modified.
Slappie 9 #4 August 3, 2004 I tend to delete most of my post after I've typed them out. I can be pretty scathing with my posts sometimes. PhreeZone 20 #6 August 3, 2004 Its getting to be more and more often. First question I ask is is it helping the convesation? Next is have I covered all angles for the flames? Anymore I have a no answer at that one so I don't post.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
Thanatos340 1 #7 August 3, 2004 I do that a lot for basically the same reason. I reply to a Post, Preview it and quickly realize that my response just wasn’t as witty as I thought it was or just didn’t come across like I thought it would.

catfishhunter 2 #9 August 3, 2004 Your not alone Tom. I do that all the time. I type a bunch of stuff, read it and just cancel it. Heck I even wrote this 3 times LOL MAKE EVERY DAY COUNT Life is Short and we never know how long we are going to have. We must live life to the fullest EVERY DAY. MarkM 0 #10 August 3, 2004 Glad to see I'm not the only one that does this. Sometimes I'll preview and think I'm not adding anything really to the conversation. Other times I'll rethink that maybe it's not as witty as I first thought it was or maybe what I wrote might be misread. Sometimes I'll think about how I'm still a newbie and maybe I shouldn't offer up the bit of advice I typed in(I have a helpful kind of personality and it's a struggle to hold that back). Other times I might be getting pulled into a debate and then realize there's little point in debating something on the internet.
Chrissay 0 #11 August 3, 2004 I definately do this. I look at what I have written and also think if this is something I want the whole world to read.
lawrocket 3 #12 August 3, 2004 For me, it's probably a third of the time. Often, it's when someone's set me off about something, and I feel better writing it out, but not posting. Sometimes it just doesn't add anything, and could be trolling. My wife is hotter than your wife.
happythoughts 0 #13 August 3, 2004 I try to remember that someone that I flame here, I may meet one day. They may be a cool person, but were having a bad day. I try not to alienate someone who I may want hang out with down the road. The main time that I don't post is when I feel that I am attacked for no reason. Generally, other people will PM me and ask WTF? To get in a flame war is pretty pointless. I try to avoid it. Some people thrive on it, but it adds nothing to my life and could f-up my future. Harksaw 0 #16 August 3, 2004 I do this quite a bit. I'll either ask a question and realize the answer, or say something that isn't really useful, or say something that, after being read, sounded meaner than I wanted it to.__________________________________________________ I started skydiving for the money and the chicks. turtlespeed 226 #17 August 3, 2004 Another thread should ask how many PREVIEW their posts. Rdutch 0 #18 August 3, 2004 How about, how many times do you not even read a post that asks a question that has been asked 100 times. Like "What is a good lens to use for skydiving video" Lucky for the newbies to this forum there is other newbies that answer their question, at least enough to answer with "Do a search" Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of! Icon134 0 #19 August 3, 2004 I do it on occation(a bit less then half the time)... I have also been known to delete messages... Imagine if did this more often in real live conversations... Muenkel 0 #24 August 4, 2004 Yup, I do it. Sometimes not as often as enough. Perfect thread for me to post Sangiro's wisdom. He told me one time, when I was getting a bit hot under the collar that before I hit "post" to get up, get a drink of water and then come back and reread what I typed. It really works. _________________________________________ Chris
