mailin 0 #1 August 6, 2004 Ok, I give up.... I haven't tried to watch a DVD on my new laptop before - so I throw in Butterfly Effect, Directors Cut. Why does it have to be so complicated? I just want to watch the danm movie - but it installs something called InterActual Player and now I can't get the stupid thing to play, it just gives me a bunch of 'extras' that mean nothing. I really don't want to read the script as I'm watching the movie! Am I doing something wrong? JenArianna Frances

indyz 1 #4 August 6, 2004 Are you using Windows? If so.... InterActual is pseudo-spyware that Warner Bros (and possibly others) put on some DVDs. The last time I saw it, it would autorun when you put the disc in, but the user still had to agree to install it. You should be able to uninstall it through the control panel. Two ways to stop it from running again (after you have uninstalled it from your system): 1) Use something like TweakUI to disable AutoRun on the DVD drive. This will stop anything from autorunning on the drive, which you might not want. 2) Hold down shift while inserting the disc. This disables AutoRun temporarily. I have heard that some rental DVDs won't play unless InterActual is installed. Dunno if this is true or not.
