They also like very fine sand - they "bathe in it" and roll around REALLY Fast! Pretty amazing to watch. They are SO soft afterwards.

And he's right - they are a GREAT BBQ.;)

Back in the 60s and 70s there used to be ads on late night TV advertising the fact that you could buy a breeding pair and get rich raising Chinchillas in your garage for "commercial" purposes. All you had to do was feed, water, breed and "process" them for fur companies.

Don't think I could have done the "process" part. :o

Wonder what they did with the meat???

This one time when I was in Germany in fifth grade and had to ride the streetcar to school everyday I got there early and the doors weren't open yet so I wandered across the street and found a pet store with a chinchilla in the window and I looked at him and tapped the glass and thought he was so cute so then I went back to visit him until he was sold.

(embracing my inner spazzy 10-year old)

you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel loquacious?' -- well do you, punk?

No shit Turtle, I thought your were kidding. I guess if squirrel is considered food, it isn't that far of a stretch to Chinchilla jerky. :o

Really - they are pretty good.

Like Dove - kinda - closer to pheasant - less like Duck.

ALOT like Rattlesnake. But not as greasy.
