craichead 0 #1 August 7, 2004 I bought a pack of Dentyne Ice gum today, and on the back of the package, there's a little white text box in the right hand corner that says: Dentyne-ism #30 If at first you don't succeed, sky diving is probably not for you. So gum packs are getting into the "pithy message delivery" game along with fortune cookies now? And how on earth can they claim that saying as theirs? What is this world coming to?! Yeah, I'm stuck at work bored outta my mind, too. _Pm__ "Scared of love, love and aeroplanes...falling out, I said takes no brains." -- Andy Partridge (XTC)
aprilcat 0 #2 August 7, 2004 Bored? HA!! Let me help you with this. Spend the next 3 hours drafting and editing a note to Dentyne demanding to know why they are soooo late with their earth-shattering (no pun intended) message. Send them examples of how many times you've seen it used. Ask for the name of the writer of this ad campaign and the rocket scientists who 1) thought that was original and 2)paid the writer big dollars for the rights. Get some heads to-rollin'!! You don't need to be bored! Have fun with it!~~April Camelot II, the Electric Boogaloo!
craichead 0 #3 August 7, 2004 LOL! That's a really good idea! Several years ago I wrote an email to M&M's asking what the Ms stood for (now listed on their web site FAQ: they stand for Mars and Murrie, the founders of the company) and also asked if the apostrophe denoted possession or plurality. If it were possession, then which "M" (Mars or Murrie) actually owns the candy? If it's plurality, then isn't the use of the apostrophe incorrect? And surely the apostophe-S wouldn't be a contraction for "is"... It was a VERY silly and rambling email. They did respond to me, but it seemed to be a "copy and paste" stock answer. I wish I still had it! _Pm__ "Scared of love, love and aeroplanes...falling out, I said takes no brains." -- Andy Partridge (XTC)
Kennedy 0 #4 August 7, 2004 And don't you just love how they always put that stupid space between "sky" and "diving?" That just [stupid metaphor removed] !witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
