Where do -they- take the temperature?!!!

Recommended Posts

God, it was ~HOT~ today at Perris!!!! My head hurt and I had to escape into my trailer and the air conditioning in the late afternoon! The HEAT just wasn't letting up! I had already downed several bottles of water, too!

News reports on the radio were reporting people getting heat exhaustion!

I swear it was 107+ degrees outside in the sun but this Weather Report at March AFB puts the high at only 96.8 degrees!

Where the heck do they take the temperature readings?!? In the SHADE?! >:(

Nahhhhh....

Wrong answer, since rectal temperature is normally .5-1 degree warmer than oral temperature (which is normally 98.6 degrees F).

So, if they 'took it up the ass', their reading would be -higher- than it felt outside, not cooler. :P

Next?

Armpit? Ear? I don't know. Someone please tell me so I can sleep tonight :)

For your slumber....an armpit temperature is .5-1 degree lower than oral. :)
So, seriously. Someone. How and where is our air temperature calculated? MAFB HAD to have been WAY off today! :S

yes. to get an accurate air temperature reading you have to be out of direct sunlight and away from objects that would prevent air circulation.

the temp you feel has many other elements added in to the equasion.

ya, it's hot... that's all i need to know. i'll leave all that technical crap to someone who gets paid for it.

I was working at the new Spa casino in Palm Springs last summer. I would take a thermometer for the chiller units and put it in the shade and it would hit 125 in a matter of minutes then i WOULD PUT IT IN THE SUN AND IT WOULD PEG AT 140 IN A COUPLE MINS. a LOT OF VARIABLES AS SOMEONE ELSE STATED. dAMN CAPLOCK>:(

Dude - that would be 98.6:P:):)

What’s the difference between an oral thermometer and a rectal thermometer?

:S

lori, i had a headache all weekend at perris. i didn't really make the connection to the insane heat (thought it was just the creeping. ha) but it makes sense now. it was like a sauna out there

I spoke to a client of mine today (he lives in Perris) who reported that -his- temperature gauge (located outside in the sun) registered 104 degrees F! So, we -were- being cooked while we played. :|

Another sign of 'cooking' was a nice yellow banana that somebody forgot and left on the porch in front of the team rooms (by the creeper area) on Sunday. We watched this lovely banana as it actually totally blackened in 20 minutes....starting at one end and ending at the other. We didn't need time-lapse photography for this one! :o

Nah! Turtle, don't you read the above posts? ;) Rectal temperature is normally .5-1 degree warmer than oral temperature (which is normally 98.6 degrees F). So your ass temperature would be 99.8! :P

There is air temperature.. and then theres heat index.
I think the heat index is closer to how hot it feels as opposed to air temp.

I think i need to move to Missouri.

Why would you move to Missouri?

It's the "Show Me" state.
