He was clinically obese before he fell.

He was 6 feet tall and under 200 lbs when he fell. Clinically obese is 221 at that height. The reports that he was obese were based on the weight listed on his autopsy which included the weight gain from being in a coma.

See, the difference between you, and well, everyone else, is that when they tell someone they are wrong, they actually back it up with information. Sometimes I learn something from those people. It's called conversation and discussion. They don't just jump in with posts like:

Wrong

No it's not.

Period.

If I had to submit proof everytime you were wrong I would be searching on Google for 12 hours a day. I do not have that much free time on my hands.

And yes, you are still wrong about Atkins. I read that silly claim By Trager. Trager is the one who you are quoting when you said he was under 200 lbs and the weight gain blah blah blah.

Unfortunately, you failed to see who Trager is. If you would had took the time to do some homewrok you would have seen Suart Trager is the chairman of the Atkins Physicians Council in New York. Sound a little biased to you?

According to whom? According to Snopes, he was 6 feet tall and 195 lbs at the time of his admission to the hospital. Maybe that's "clinically obese" in your book, but it's certainly not in mine.

Let's see. You don't like NIH, you don't like Snopes -- did you happen to weigh him before he fell yourself?

What are you basing your statement on that he was clinically obese before he hurt himself? Do you actually have any evidence. Remember that what he weighed when he actually died doesn't count if there are witnesses who agree that he suffered from serious edema. A pint's a pound the world around and all that.

I'm quoting the hospital admission papers which listed his weight at 195 according to USA Today

Yeah, but that was in the media, and we all know the media is liberal and corrupt :P:P:P And we don't really know who filled out those papers, either, do we?

It's a conspiracy! The papers were filed by a cigarette-smoking man in a dark suit! Ahhh!

:P

Whether Atkins himself was overweight or not has nothing to do with the stupidity of his diet. Take it to speaker's corner if you want to have that argument.

Now, to bring things back down to the level appropriate to the Bonfire,
Here is what I think of his diet...

Disclaimer: According to the NIH, I'm overweight. But those guidelines don't seem to account for the fact that I'm mostly muscle. In fact, my lean body mass would put me in the 'overweight' category. Some of us are just anvil-butts. :)

Good god, I had no idea where this would lead!

Chill out guys, as long as you're not on f'in atkins, it's all cool. Or any other fad diet, for that matter. Forget about being right for a minute and contribute to the chill environment around the bonfire. Or drag your argumentative ass back to asshole's, I mean speaker's corner.

Everything in moderation. Nothing but skydiving in excess. Okay, and beer. But not too much, or you'll be 1000 lbs and need to be surgically extracted from your couch.

feel how ever you want.
Atkins has been a life saver for me. Is it the right diet for eveyone??? No I dont think so. Is it right for some like myself, absolutley. I personally feel, we are all animals. I feel Northern Europions (sp) and other "northerns" will dfinately benefit from his thoughts (Atkins). I personally believe Aykins was right on the money, and I for one would have never made it into this sport without him! Am I still a big fat bastard? YES, but I am a 70lbsd lighter fat bastard because of him. Did I mention I am a hell of a base?
