Douva 0 #2 August 16, 2004 QuoteHistory channel I came in with about 15 minutes left. I'm watching the ending right now. Was it a good show? What all did it cover?I don't have an M.D. or a law degree. I have bachelor's in kicking ass and taking names.
jheadley 0 #3 August 17, 2004 It talked about WWII paratroopers, smoke jumpers, the change from round to square canopies, had a little about bill booth creating the 3 ring system and tandem system, some recreational skydiving shots. Mostly it was about military application and also application for the space program. Thanks for telling me the show was on, it let me procrastinate for another hour. Justin, who is moving into a new apartment tomorrow and as of 8pm, has not started packing yet.
akarunway 1 #4 August 17, 2004 It was good. Add that it showed Joe Kittengers' record jump. And does anyone know if Cheryl Stearns is still gonna do the 130,000' jump? And when maybe ?I hold it true, whate'er befall; I feel it, when I sorrow most; 'Tis better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all. jheadley 0 #6 August 17, 2004 The show said that the guy who did the record jump exited at 105,000 or something like that, and deployed at 17,000. Funny that he deploys higher than we usually jump from. Why did he deploy so high? The show said it was an 8 minute canopy ride too. Can anyone explain? AggieDave 6 #9 August 17, 2004 I thought it was kinda funny that the smoke jumpers couldn't land their canopies for shit.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

It was also the experimental use of commercial, off-the-shelf equipment to prove that existing systems could provide life support in extreme conditions. mh ."The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat." AggieDave 6 #13 August 17, 2004 QuoteYeah, and they were big ass 7 cells. To their credit though, they were carrying lots of gear. I land with an average of 200lbs of "equipment" more then a few times every weekend. Even my worst landing wasn't nearly as bad as those guys. Then again, I have reasonably modern equipment too, instead of ragged out 7-cell F111 canopies.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
