riddler 0 #6 August 18, 2004 How about "toast of the day?" I'm sure it's probably been posted here before, but here goes: Voted the best toast of the day at the pub. John O'Reilly hoisted his beer and said: "Here's to spending the rest of me life, between the legs of me wife!" That won him the top prize for the best toast of the day! He went home and told his wife, Mary, "I won the prize for the best toast of the day." She said, "Aye, what was your toast?" John said, "Here's to spending the rest of me life, sitting in Church beside me wife." "Oh that is very nice indeed, John!" Mary said. The next day, Mary ran into one of John's toasting buddies on the street corner. The man chuckled leeringly and said, "John won the prize yesterday, with a toast about you, Mary." She said, "Aye and I was a bit surprised me self!, you know, he's only been there twice! Once he fell asleep, and the other time I had to pull him by the ears to make him come."Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

kelel01 1 #8 August 18, 2004 Are you referring to "Auschwitz"? Because otherwise, I'm confused.

kelel01 1 #10 August 18, 2004 Yeah, I just seriously didn't get it (well, at first). But that's one of those quotes that's so abrasive, that it's kind of powerful. Some people just can't see past the end of their noses. Good quotes, though! I like the first one!

I did tech support for a couple of years so I can definitely relate. (Of course, I've probably been the idiot a few times myself. )

PD126r 0 #13 August 19, 2004 Quoteyes both spellings are accepted...sorry for the confusion.. A bit tricky isn't it..? Sorry guys, both of you've got it wrong. So neither spelling is accepted. Since Auswitch is a proper name, there is only one right way to spell it. Like Oregon, for instance. You can't spell it Ogeron, can you..? Oh! The qoute: "More and more of our country's import comes from other countries" -Bush You guys really have a funny president! ;)
lurking 0 #14 August 19, 2004 Sorry, but I´m afraid it´s you who is wrong. I know it´s in Poland but as a German I am (unfortunately) a little closer to the subject. The correct spelling for the name of the place is Auschwitz. As a proof you might look at the official polish website (also in English) of the museum they have there. http://www.auschwitz-muzeum.oswiecim.pl/ Thomas
Zenister 0 #15 August 19, 2004 ok, i stand corrected. that was apparently part of the joke i missed as well ..and my spelling always sucked ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
Squeak 17 #16 August 19, 2004 Quoteyes both spellings are accepted...sorry for the confusion.. Where? certainly not here. The only accepted spelling is the correct one of "Auschwitz". You yanks try to change everything to make it easier for you to spell. Auswitch would be an breviation for an Aussie Witch Colour me badYou are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! How's yours doing? I'll hunt down and bitchslap my old history teacher! Sorry about this.. Got another quote though: "I've coined new words, like, misunderstanding and Hispanically" -Bush (He is a funny guy, the US pres. Everytime he appears on tv I allways think: "He's a funny guy. Now where's the real president..?" )
Shotgun 1 #19 August 19, 2004 Quote"I've coined new words, like, misunderstanding and Hispanically" -Bush Hispanically??? I guess I missed him saying that one. Poor guy... he's just not very good with the "public speaking" part of the job. (I wouldn't be very good at it either. If I was the President, I'd be making an ass of myself all the time! )
