tunaplanet 0 #1 April 18, 2004 If you love talented voices check out this deep, bluesy, jazzy, raspy voice. She is un-fucking-believable. I've been d/l a bunch of her music last night. Awesome. She has a version of the old Cyndi Lauper song, 'Time After Time' that is incredible. Her voice is enchanting. I like her voice as much as I do Eva Cassidy. Eva also did a version of 'Time After Time.' If you have the time d/l them both. Each version is fantastic. Forty-two

FallRate 0 #6 April 19, 2004 I was introduced to Cassandra Wilson in an awkward way. I bought "Venus Isle" by Eric Johnson and the disc that was actually in it was "New Moon Daughter". There is no mention of Artist or Title on "New Moon Daughter", so when I went back to exhange it for the Johnson disc, I asked the clerk what it might be. He knew it right away, and I left with both. Someone must have known I'd enjoy it. FallRate

tunaplanet 0 #8 August 19, 2004 I know this thread is old but I found another great song by her. D/l "Strawberries Forever" by Cassandra Wilson. It's a remake of the Beatles song. It's fantastic. Forty-two
FlyingJ 0 #9 August 19, 2004 Used to work in the jazz field in NYC and had the opportunity to present and hang out with her on a number of occasions. Always a dream to listen to.Killing threads since 2004.
tunaplanet 0 #10 August 19, 2004 What was she like? I saw her in an interview with Bob Costas and she seemed very sweet and down to earth. Was she like that in person? Call me crazy but I believe she may have one of if not the best voice there is. So deep and enchanting. Forty-two
SkydiveNFlorida 0 #11 August 19, 2004 I agree, she is awesome! I loved her in concert last year here in S. Fla. Amazing voice, and just a beautiful person. She stood barefoot on stage, in a frumpy type dress, just being herself. I forget who she opened for, but I was just there for her and left shortly after. I can't wait until she comes back! Angela. PhillyKev 0 #12 August 19, 2004 She has a great voice. QuoteShe has a version of the old Cyndi Lauper song, 'Time After Time' that is incredible. Actually, that was written by the Hooters. Cyndi Lauper was one of the orignators of corporate talent. Most of her songs were written by others and purchased.
FlyingJ 0 #13 August 20, 2004 She is great. A good friend of mine that was with us said that she was like everyone's favorite aunt. Jazz muscians (at least that I have worked with) are generally a pretty good group of people to hang with. A very open crowd.Killing threads since 2004.
