Dag 0 #1 January 12, 2010 Fellow skydivers! =) Anyone with experiences flying the r-Max reserv? Have been given the oppertunity to buy a r-Max 138. If I do I will be loading it at 1,5. I have 2000 jumps and have been jumping mains the last ten years that I´ve loaded between 1,5 and 2,0. I´ve once landed a PD 143 and that felt really nice. I don´t just want to be able to land it. I want my reserv to fly and feel good. Thank´s for any help! / Dag
parachutist 2 #2 January 12, 2010 My R-Max is loaded at 1.6. I've had one opportunity to fly it, and it was great... that was at 4,300 ft field elevation. Plenty of flare for landing. No complaints :)
tjm 0 #3 January 12, 2010 I have one reserve ride on a R-Max. It flew great and I had a soft landing. If you're not living on the edge; you're taking up too much room!
JerryBaumchen 1,468 #4 January 12, 2010 Hi Dag, Call Andy Farrington at Skydive Kapowsin; they're on the web. He did a lot of jumping of them, during the development I 'think.' JerryBaumchen
riggerrob 643 #5 January 12, 2010 I only have one jump on an R-Max 118. I loaded it at the upper edge of the chart. The R-Max opened, turned and flew great, but it took me three tries to determine that it stalled when I pulled the toggles level with my bottom rib. I followed my main to a muddy farmer's field and did a soft, one knee landing. Overall I liked the R-Max 188, but would never seriously consider buying it because at my weight, I would be much wiser jumping an R-Max 140-something sized reserve. gearless_chris 1 #6 January 13, 2010 I've got 1 jump on my R-max 168 @ 1.6 W/L. I spent most of my ride in 3/4 brakes staying with my main. I was surprised that I was able to stay with it, until I let it fly to enter my landing pattern. Did a fun little 45 degree flare turn, no problems. I love my new R-max, it flies much better than my old Raven 1."If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
