AirMail 0 #26 August 24, 2004 QuoteQuoteI try to always respect everyone I meet, until they give me some reason not to. I expect the same from others. P- It is great to expect that respect but sucks when you really don't see it. I'm sure you have been in that situation so what do you do? I try to live my life as a sincere and honest person in every relationship or friendship I find myself in. I do my best to disregard disrespect but make an effort to avoid/ignore the person from then on. It is very very rare for me to seek any kind of revenge (not really the right word). I tend to let karma handle things like that for me. And trust me, karma can be a bitch sometimes. P--- It's never too late to have a happy childhood. ECVZZ 0 #30 August 24, 2004 QuoteNot to mention that people who dont respect me dont deserve to have me in their life. Some of us get it.. some never will Very well said! G. Deuce 1 #31 August 24, 2004 Quoteso what do you do? Lisa, everybody has a "shame hook". You hook them on whatever they find shameful in their worldview. It can be very wierd. For some, rape is OK so long as it isn't a child of a certain age. For some, throwing your partner down the stairs is OK for some things but not for others. The key, when dealing with people from other planets is to not deal with them like they were from your circle. I never had problems dealing with the wierd stuff people would do in my old job because I had no expectations of them. It's especially hard when someone surprises you with their inhumanity, but they all have some strange limit on what is OK and what is not. For some, it is ok to sell a child for money, but a death sentence to take stash without permission. Wierd, but true. The key is to find the currency of guilt in whatever circle you travel in. mouth 0 #32 August 24, 2004 JP, I think the old addage of shoot them all and let God sort them out that AggieDave used to have might work in some of these situations. I guess I had higher expectations for humans and I shouldn't have any expectaions at all. -- Hot Mama At least you know where you stand even if it is in a pile of shit.
