freeflir29 0 #3 August 24, 2004 Yep....CNN says witnesses on the ground saw "explosions" prior to the crash. First guess.......fucking Chechens. I'll keep my comments about those fucks to myself.
tunaplanet 0 #4 August 24, 2004 Indeed. Both dissapeared at the same time. Both took off from the same airport. Seems like more than a coincidence to me. I could be wrong. Forty-two
freeflir29 0 #5 August 24, 2004 Of course....I guess I shouldn't rush to blame the chechens. It's not like the Russian military doesn't have a habit of shooting down civilian airliners on a semi regular basis. Usually not 2 at the same time though. adamjenner 0 #6 August 24, 2004 this may sound dumb but it doesn't say if they found the second plane...they only know it went off radar?

tunaplanet 0 #8 August 25, 2004 You can most likely assume it crashed. They usually don't like to say a plane has crashed until they get a visual or local villagers are toasting marshmellows over the fuselage. Forty-two
freeflir29 0 #9 August 25, 2004 QuoteThat's a very strong statement. Can you elaborate? Uhhhh....last year......I think it was the Russian Navy that downed an Aeroflot plane over the black sea. Then there is always Korean Air 007. Downed by a Mig in visual range.

The second was indeed Korean jet downed by Russian airforce in 1983.

freeflir29 0 #13 August 25, 2004 QuoteAnd far better than the women of Mongolia I haven't met too many women....OK any........from Mongolia so I can't comment. I did however once fall completely in lust with a Ukranian girl in South Korea. I discovered it wouldn't work when I couldn't pronounce her name. Nice to look at though. freeflir29 0 #15 August 25, 2004 QuoteI have been to many areas in the Soviet Union. Some of those women are drop dead sexy. I'm SO jealous of a friend I work with. Just after the wall came down he spent about 1 1/2 years as a "Military Attache" in Moscow. It was his job to "take care of" visiting US VIP's. Senators and such. He provided "Exec Protection," theater tickets, booze, hookers, etc etc etc. (Some other things I can't repeat here) Damn does he have some great stories. Bastard!!!! How would it be to get let loose with a gun and a get out of jail free card in Moscow in the early 90's. Bastard!!!!
Michele 1 #16 August 25, 2004 Quote that's really odd! Yes, it's odd all right. Except when you consider the Chechnyn rebels' predeliction for terrorism, their Jihad against Russia, and the fact that Russia will be having an election this weekend (I think it's set for Sunday, but not positive on that). Then add in the attack on the subways in Moscow last February which killed (iirc) 40+, and the Madrid train bombing 2 days before the election (which had the appearance of changing the winner of the election, although that's hotly debated...the perception is real, however), and the fact that some Chechnyn rebels have been connected to AQ and other fundamentalist islamic jihadists (odd bedfellows, I know). Then things start being not so odd after all. The second plane went "missing" near Rostov-on-Don, a sparsely populated area near the Black Sea (if I recall my geography correctly). There have been some reports of a fire in the forests near Rostov, but no-one has confirmed it's the plane that went missing within 2-5 minutes of the other one confirmed down. That's far too much of a coincidence for me, but it could be that it's just bad luck. This just sucks. freeflir29 0 #17 August 25, 2004 Quoteand the fact that some Chechnyn rebels have been connected to AQ and other fundamentalist islamic jihadists (odd bedfellows, I know). Not really....they have A LOT in common actually. Not the least of which is the fact that Chechnya was the biggest "Jihadi" vacation destination after Afghanistan. To think I once had a small amount of sympathy for the Chechens. Not anymore!
Michele 1 #18 August 25, 2004 You're right - I may not have phrased that correctly. Back in the day, the mujahadeen were fighting the Russians...that's the strange bedfellow comment base. But I agree - they have a great deal in common w/ AQ, including some of the same people, Including some who are higher up in AQ. ryoder 1,590 #19 August 25, 2004 AP is reporting one plane "sent a hijack code". I take that to mean the transponder was squawking 7500.
