mr2mk1g 10 #1 August 25, 2004 Anyone know if you need any specialist tools or knowledge to switch lenses on underwater cameras? Or are they just like an ordinary SLR in that the lenses can be swapped relatively easily? Specific model I'm talking about if it matters is a Nikonos 5. Don't bother researching it for me, just wondered if anyone knows off the top of their head. Cheers all.
kelpdiver 2 #2 August 25, 2004 A Nik V is quite like an SLR in the ability to change lenses. But those lenses aren't cheap! And the prep work to make the thing ready to go down is more than I want to deal with.
mr2mk1g 10 #3 August 25, 2004 Cool - so long as you wouldn't need to pay to have the lens changed for you or anything silly like that?
Jib 0 #4 August 25, 2004 No, but there are o-rings around the openings which need to me lubricated and taken care of. You also need to have the camera serviced every year or so to replace the hidden o-rings. I sold my Nik V and would go housed unless you intend to take pics of big things -- whales and sharks. Otherwise, you have to choose a lens (no zoom) and live with it. Also, no autofocus etc. -------------------------------------------------- the depth of his depravity sickens me. -- Jerry Falwell, People v.
