GrumpySmurf 0 #1 August 25, 2004 Last Wednesday Morning: get the call - am needed right away at the GM Desert Proving Grounds in AZ. Last Wednesday Night: helmet, camcorder, goggles, logbook, and altimeter are packed and good to go for a weekend to get a few jumps in at Eloy (I don't care how bloody hot it is). Arrived in Phx. Hopes of Take care of GM, then go jump Saturday, maybe see the Grand Canyon on Sunday are playing through mind. Last Night: Left DPG to fly back home - no visit to Eloy, no visit to Grand Canyon - aside from the hotel - all I got to see was a bunch of test track surrounded by desert - a few small lizards and the odd road runner. Aside from being put through Advanced Driver Training by GM (to be able to take the cars out on the track) - not what was hoped for. BLAH! BTW: If you plan to carry on a camcorder with a tape in it on a commercial airliner, have it taken out of the bag and placed into a seperate tray like the laptops - at least that was the rule last week - else you are in for a full bag search at security when they see the camcorder in your carry on bag. That might have changed this week for all I know.

Cornholio 0 #3 August 25, 2004 I dunno about this rule everywhere, I carried my PC105 in my carry-on bag between WFFC and home and had no problems with San Jose, O'Hare, Midway, or Las Vegas. YMMV Butthead: Whoa! Burritos for breakfast! Beavis: Yeah! Yeah! Cool! bellyflier on the dz.com hybrid record jump
Deuce 1 #4 August 25, 2004 I did San Francisco to Heathrow, Stanstead to Gothenburg and back without having my camera case opened. And it's a doozy of a wheeled Pelican case with still and video cameras, lenses, portable hard drive, etc. I was actually a little freaked they didn't open it, cause it must look fairly interesting via X ray.
