How young is too young?

My daughter wants to learn how to pack -

She is 11 years old. I have heard of others learning early.
She is strong enough.

Before, my attitude was no - not for a while - but I might have flip flopped.;)

feedback? opinions?

My Canopy only at first.

(You know - I almost put "Get your minds outta da gutter" at the top of the post - but thought - Nah - they will be mature enough - expecially since this is about my daughter.[:/]

That is a great start and don't forget to pay her for her work. If she can understand the responsibility, I would assume she will find herself to be very busy in no time. I wouldn't have any problems with age in letting someone pack my main as long as I trusted them.

How does she handle frustration?

At age 26 I still can't handle packing, it makes me want to light a match and... well...

So if she is like me, which I imagine at that age she is, I would say wait a while.

But WTF do I know....

I let an 8 year old "help" me pack one day. I'd set one brake and she'd set the other, then after putting the canopy on the ground, she'd roll on it to get the air out, then cock the pilot chute (which she needed some help with). I realized my closing loop really needed to be shortened when she was able to get it through all the grommets with only a little help. Then she helped fold and roll the pilot chute.

I tore up my fingers learning to pack... if an 11 year old can do it, I'm impressed!

Hell yes let her pack!!!
My brother and I were packing by the time we were six. That was the round days with two springloaded P|C's, 4 pin ripcords and pack opening bands.

I think the only reason my parents had kids was for the packing.:S;)

It will give and teach her responsibility and build her confidence.
Just remember she might smack you!!
Back then we didn't really have to worry about the openings, even with the old squares.

But what the hell do I know, I haven't packed in three years and 1100 jumps since I returned and I still have zero cutaways, by the way what the hell is this pro packing???:S:S
Maybe I will learn some day?

I say go for it, less work for you, its all good!
