DiabloPilot's Cessna.

Our 206 is out for repairs, so today Skydance sent down Dan the pilot of thier 182, and Marcus to help me do tandems.

Funny as you jump, how planes and people bring back memories.

First off, I'm thinking SoCal JP has probably hucked hundreds of tandems out of this plane.

And I'm thinking of Emily, who was the first person ever to respond to a post I made on Dropzone.com jumping with me from this plane with Brook. Hilarious memory, as it was her first piston engine jump, and first ever strut-hang. Where are you Emily? Brook? (I know Brook's at Otay)

The Perris Skyvan is the first one I ever hung from. I'll always think of Casa's as the plane I did the 121 sequential record from.

C-130's I will always remember as Sweden, plain and simple.

How about you? Any special memories associated with airplanes you've jumped from?

turbine 206's will always bring me back to saar loius (duren) germany....... and my fist time jumping through a cloud in germany from one.....

Yeah. That's what I'm talking about. I can never think of our 206 at Byron without thinking of GirlFallDown laughing at me (in a "with" kind of way) when I was pelted off the strut by sleet.

The Meunkel jump out of the turbine DC-3 at my first Memorial Day Boogie at Perris is a stand out too. That turbine DC-3 is the one me and Sebastian did that sit fly jump out of.

Planes are cool.

I took some very cool pictures of Amy and Hottamaly in the Perris DC-9, too.

That Davis 182 just made me reflect on it a little.

Mostly bad memories.......of HUGE Air Force aircraft.....red lights......yelling......S/L rig and ruck on. Some good though........watching the beautiful Alaskan country side go by out the door of a C-17 on beautiful July afternoon. My very first jump out of a C-130 on a HOT May day in Georgia.

For me;

C-130
Everytime I hear that designation, all that pops into my head is this beautiful white and red bird with the 4 blade props. Climbing inside. Sitting down. Strapping in. Taking off (god the feel of sheer power as it lumbers down the runway...)

Climbing to altitude. Takeoff, look down, a grand. WOW! Look down again, 750. Again, 500.... WTF? Hearing the distinct sound of rotorblades. Seeing Rod in his 412 behind us. Seeing Rod so close to us that we could see the reflection of his rotors in the door. Fleahop playing around behind in the Pitts. Don showing off in the L-39, then climbing back from 250' to .

Being the last out of the first pass (#55), Flipping to my belly, and getting blasted straight down at the same moment I realized that Don was still there in the L-39, tucked unbelievably close up and under the right wing of that magnificent bird.

Rantoul '02 will always hold a special place in my heart. (Besides, that was the only part of the boogie DVD I made it on to....)

Lodi's DC-3 91E - The awesome sound of Pratt and Whitney starting up, leisurely climbs with time for a nap, 10 speed star exits, and 40 way Sunset Loads...:)
The Mingo Porter - Watching a plane pass me in freefall for the first time...B|

C-130 - Awesome exits, Quincy cornfields, friendly neighbors (thank god!) and off landings!

The old Yolo DZ (pre-Skydance) D-18 Beech in the back with a girl 6000' over Sacramento one night!:$:o

It was man, it was.

Just looked it up in the log book, and it sent shivers up my spine just thinking about it.

Jump #: 74
Date: 8-10-02
Location: Rantoul, IL
Equip: Sabre 135
Aircraft: C-130

It's little surprises (and big things like this) that make the WFFC the WFFC, and are why I'll never miss another.

That was also the first (only from '02?) time that the C-130 ride went for 2 standard jump tix.

Is it August 5th yet? :S

Funny.. I know Brooke and I remember the first time I had any kind of conversation with some substance behind it. He was showing me how to pack my hornet. I was thinking about you the other day Deuce. Jump number 86. Me, you, richard, and Lisa. We did a 4 way and M2 and another really nice gentleman flying camera. I was on my first 4 way with you guys and had no clue what I was doing. I had been Freeflying since I was off student status. I endend up on my back on exit and was so stiff and nervous. The whole thing funneled and I was so pissed at myself. I was ready to hang it up or become a freeflier. Not a bad thing but I really wanted to do RW. I asked you to sign my log book and you read what I wrote and gave me a great pep talk. Lisa (mouth) took me on a great 2-way on jump 90 and brought my confidence up. You guys were terrific. After that I decided to leave San Diego and go where I could find training. For me it was Lake Elsinore and I really began to grow and love the sport. I always wanted to thank you guys for that. I always thought I'd run into you guys sometime and have the opportunity. I'd like to say thanks now and I'll buy the beers when I see you guys next. I always think about you guys when I'm at perris and see shark. I remember that being a turning point for me.

Cheers guys,

Ed

Best funny memory is watching quade try to hang onto the Cessna 182's strut at Buckeye. His first (and only) Cessna jump. Now, this is the kind of plane quade instructs from and proficiently flies....and there he is afraid that he's gonna fall off the strut! That look will stay with me forever! :D

< history...this same kind of plane is what I learned on and had about 200 jumps from at the time myself...so strut hangs were a piece of cake! Never thought it would be a scary challenge for someone else! > :)

The plane I remember best is a Caravan I jumped from on my 20th-or-so jump, as the last jumper out. Being used to the small 182 and now finding myself all alone in this big(!) Caravan is a really sweet memory. I remember standing in the door, giving the group ahead of me spacing. I was looking down at the floor, and thinking: "Wow! The floor just ends! There's nothing out there!" That was a great moment.. Later I've jumped C-130's and other aircrafts, but the memory from the "biig" Caravan really sticks..
